Willmar Seminary class to receive seventeen diplomas

The thirty fourth year of 1915 ends with commencement on Saturday, June 3. Seventeen diplomas will be awarded to students in normal, commercial and stenography courses. Rev C Davick will give the address. Special Underwood diplomas for typing speed will be awarded to eight students. An alumni banquet is set for June 1 and the Junior Senior reception for May 26.

Granville Abbott Civil War Veteran Dies at 81 in Spicer

Granville Abbott of Spicer died at his home last Thursday after a several month illness at age 81 years 8 months and 19 days. Born in Rumford Maine August 29 1834 he served in the 31st Indiana Vol regiment for three years and was mustered as a corporal. He moved to Harrison then Spicer in 1904 and belonged to Col Hey Post 125 G A R Willmar. Funeral held from his Spicer home with Rev C B Latimer officiating.

Memorial Day Program in Willmar Celebrated with Parades and Concerts

Memorial Day events in Willmar include a forenoon program by public school pupils, a parade forming at the Central building at 9:20, and a flag salute with The Star Spangled Banner. G A R members lead, Citizens' Band plays, and graves are decorated. An afternoon auto parade, junior league activities, a baseball game, and a large evening parade to the auditorium follow, with speeches, songs, and performances by local groups and officials.

Juniors Host Senior Banquet at Carlson Hall

The junior class of the high school hosted a formal reception and banquet for the seniors last Friday at Carlson Hall. Attendees enjoyed a multi course menu and musical numbers while toasts by junior and faculty representatives highlighted the evening. Mesdames Sanderson Cramer and Larsen oversaw arrangements, marking it a memorable event.

Cosmos Club Banquet Held at Interlachen Hotel in Rain

The Cosmos Club second annual banquet took place at the Interlachen Hotel in Green Lake despite steady rain. About 39 members attended over Friday and Saturday, enjoying a log cabin setting, a substantial menu, and social warmth with few weather-related drawbacks. Obbie Nordstrom and Carl Hook attempted fishing, while Ladies' Aid event at Oak Park M. E. church is announced for May 31.

The local high school will hold its commencement Exercises Friday evening at the auditorium. President O J Johnson of Gustavus Adolphus College St Peter will deliver the address. Willmar Young Men Plan Militia Armory Meeting

The Commercial Club committee urges every interested man to attend a May 29 meeting in the Court House to discuss forming an independent Militia Company for Willmar and securing an armory. If enough enlist, the group may parade on Decorah Day and proceed with equipment and training plans.
