Willmar Will Local Plant Expand Egg and Dairy Trade

18 Now J. B. Agen & Co. of Seattle has halted interest in cold storage with Holt and Pinseth and expanded operations in Willmar Minnesota. Eggs milk and cream shipments rise with 16 workers loading packing and unloading. Plans include a spur loaded platform and larger facilities as the poultry business grows with Willmar’s status as Minnesota headquarters.

City Council Broad Powers On Tax, Streets and Grading

At an adjourned meeting the city council ordered poll tax collection and authorized one assistant for collection. The street committee may hire the city civil engineer to mark Fifth street corners from Minnesota avenue. Residents Hoglund Sandberg and Hoglund sought curb grading on unplatted west Fifth street. grading to be at no city cost. Hans Magelstad received 12 in compensation as street commissioner for six months.

Rains Cause Damage on Willmar and Sioux Falls Line

A landslide and washout between Lynd and Russell disrupted traffic on the Willmar and Sioux Falls line. Passengers were transferred at Lynd with No. 11 returning at five. More than a hundred feet of road bed was affected. The bridge construction department was mobilized to restore service swiftly and Asst. Supt. Knebel visited the site.

Willmar High Class to Hear Rev Buell in Baccalaureate

Willmar High School graduates selected Rev. Buell of the First Presbyterian church to deliver the baccalaureate sermon on Sunday May 31 at 8 p m. The fourteen graduates, listed by English and Latin scientific course, will receive their diplomas at the opera house Friday June 5 with Rev. G L Morrill of Minneapolis giving the commencement address.

Seminary Items Show Weather Delays And School Events

Weather limits practice for the Seminary baseball team as plans unfold for a Osaco society entertainment with 15 cent admission. Juniors meet next Wednesday at 8 PM in the Seminary chapel. Bruns sustains a blue eye from a collision at Litchfield. Distinguish visitors arrive for State examinations next week. The Seminary bell from Litchfield returns with news of a first defeat. An opera house lecture on The Land of the Midnight Sun is Thursday. Baccalaureate sermon and alumni banquet planned for June 9 at Seminary Hall. Graduates-to-be meet Wednesday at 3 PM. Erick Holt Wins Third Ward Alderman Seat

The special election to replace H. B. Qvale in the Third ward elected Erick Holt, Citizens' independent candidate, over Albert C. Johnson, Republican, by 92 to 78 with 170 votes cast. The result signals support for the new administration and its business-focused agenda.

Changes on the Great Northern rail line at Run Through Willmar

J P Devaney leaves the passenger run for a main line post and debuts Saturday. He is succeeded by J J Purcell who first ran Monday. Jack Sheridan moves from freight to main line, W M Martins becomes freight conductor, and the Devaney family will relocate from Hutchinson.

Knights to Confer May 27 at Willmar Castle Hall

The Knights of Pythias Willmar plan a large ceremony in their castle hall on May 27 to confer third rank work on many neophytes. A banquet will follow and representatives from Benson Morris Litchfield and Clenwood are invited. The Benson Lodge degree team will perform the work.

Will Graduate From U Minnesota State 448 Graduates Listed

Willmar names among the graduates for Minnesota State University this year with 448 total. Henry G. Hanson joins the College of Science Literature and Arts. G. D. Williams in College of Dentistry. A. C. Carlson Meadames Oram Rice and Sherwood appear in the graduating list. The group toured the library board building site and the library commission during their visit to discuss brick work and selections. Norwegian Day Celebration at Floren Farm Picnic Grounds

On May 17 the Floren farm three miles north of town hosted a Norwegian American celebration. After a delayed program, M. O. Thorpe presided over a Norwegian style program with Rev Heimdahl and Prof O K Omlie. Omlie spoke on the individual and state, tracing liberty through history. Music by Ormbeck with Herdangerfele reminded attendees of home. light refreshments followed and youths played ball before departing.

Confirmation services will be held at Bethel Lutheran church at ten in the morning for Alice Englund Elsie Hoglind Edith Johnson Hattie Carlson Maria Nelson Minnie Strandberg Elsie Peterson Ada Tingham Edwin Moline William Goranson Harry Hoglund and Victor Johnson. Communion services will be Sunday evening with services at the church tomorrow evening. The Ta jlea social will be hosted by Mrs August Hoglund tomorrow afternoon. Nels Olson was lay delegate to the Minnesota conference in Minneapolis. Rev Peterson returned from the conference Saturday night and conducted services at Willmar and Mamre Sunday after a month of missionary westward tour scheduled for this summer.

Glenwood Yellow Kids Clinch 17 2 Win Over Willmar Juniors

The Glenwood Yellow Kids routed Willmar Juniors 17 to 2 in the season opener at Glenwood. The "Hide" team displayed precise play and overwhelmed the visitors, signaling strong prospects for future games. Attorney J M Downs traveled to Antler, Canada for land business with Otterness Downs and buyers. Augustana Conference debates move of Gustavus Adolphus College

At the Minnesota Augustana Synod meeting in Minneapolis the proposed relocation of Gustavus Adolphus College from St. Peter to Minneapolis was discussed. A nine member committee was formed to earn a $250,000 bonus and the fund, with a financial agent named to raise an endowment. Dr. M Wablatom offered resignation as rector but was urged to remain.

Sorenson Reports From Black Bay Mining Co

Mine manager Sorenson reports from Fort William on May 11 1903 that the Black Bay Mining Co has a steamer and wharf prepared for storms. Shaft work is complete down 100 feet copper layers found with red rock signaling potential new copper veins. Directors plan regular reports and possible visit by directors to inspect the site.
