The band will perform Thursday evening at the Court House grounds due to engagement at a large political gathering next Saturday. Crowds attended last Saturday’s event as autos filled the Pigly Vouse grounds with attendees and music.
The Willmar Dramatic Art Club stages The Country Kid a three act comedy drama at Willmar Opera House with proceeds aiding county causes. Russell Curran stars as the detective figure in a rural setting with multiple cast members from local groups. performances Wednesday in two shows.
Xel Hansen and Ole Sletten of the Great Northern repair track force were injured when a car door detached from a broken fastening and fell on their legs. They were taken to the hospital for treatment. no bones were broken. Also: Eastern Star May Party for children next Friday evening at the Masonic Temple from 7 p.m. St John’s Ladies’ Aid meets May 29 with Mrs M J Kusten. all welcome.
Little Axel Thorson six years old son of Mr and Mrs Anton Thorson on his father's farm east of Willmar was severely hurt when the sleeve of his coat was caught in a manure spreader as his father started the machine. He was rushed to Willmar Hospital with cuts to the head shoulder and arm. Doctors feared amputation but he is recovering.
The community invites every former service member to a soldier mass meeting at the Court House on Thursday May 20 1920 at eight p.m. Discussion covers readjustment plans and present legislative proposals. Attendees will vote on a resolution to be sent to Minnesota representatives in Congress, indicating preferred options for land settlement aid home aid vocational training and adjusted cash compensation.

Knights Templars convocation in Willmar Saturday featured a special St. Paul train bringing 140 Knights. Parade to Masonic Temple with Willmar Band, 50 Willmar lodge members, 40 Litchfield, 12 Morris. Banquet hosted by local ladies. Three candidates initiated: H. Diffendorf, H. Porter, F. Sather. Train departed at 4:30 a.m.
Willmar city schools close May 28 with a Park Auditorium ceremony for about forty one graduates. A 15 cent hall expense fee applies. Baccalaureate service Sunday at Presbyterian church with Rev. Swan Mattson delivering the sermon. Commencement program includes invocation, solos by Girls Glee Club, salutatory by Lilly Lindberg, address What Constitutes a Man Capital by Rev. Wilbur R. Keesey, presentations to the School Board, diplomas awarded, and benediction by Rev. G N Tagnell.
James E Cooper a Willmar barber for three years passed away suddenly last Thursday from acute Brights disease. Born March 9 1884 in Shanney Town Illinois he lived in Canby Litchfield before moving to Willmar. He is survived by wife Tina Nicolay and twin daughters Herbig Irene nine. two sisters Bessie and Alice Cooper and aunt Mary J Whitford. Funeral held Sunday at First Methodist with Rev L C Benson officiating. Interment at Fairview. Pallbearers: W O Wilson F A Radue L Keating Fred Lindquist Ed Bjerke H M Weiby.

A nine year old boy Arnold Stanley Juden Edwards died at his parents home on Litchfield Avenue after a pocket knife blade pierced his left side while he walked to cut a whistle from willow branches. He collapsed at home and died from internal bleeding linked to a heart condition. Born October 31, 1910 in Willmar, he attended Central School. Survived by parents and four siblings Nora Anna Leonard and Joseph. Funeral held at Synod Lutheran Church. Rev. A J Vaaler officiated. pallbearers Irvin Olson Walter Olson Kern Anderson Richard Struxness.
Eighty five children were examined today at the nutritional clinic under Kandiyohi Public Health Association. Dr Batch elder and County Nurse Miss Imadahl assisted. The clinic was a great success and will help mothers and their children. Dies From Drinking Lye A baby dies after ingesting lye at the Mr and Mrs Oscar Fallstone home near Canby. Despite medical help the infant did not survive.
The Willmar High School Senior and Junior banquet attracted about a hundred attendees at the Masonic Temple. A mock wedding opened the event, followed by a five course dinner with toastmaster Supt. Brobaugh introducing Junior and Senior class presidents Orlean Christian and Everett McDonald for remarks. Fourteen freshmen served as waiters, then juniors organized games until eleven. Monte Man Gassed By Fumes Of Gary. Bonde, a Montevideo businessman, was found dead in his garage from car exhaust fumes after going to work on a car. the garage door remained closed and fumes filled the space.
The Olle i Skratthult company will perform at the Willmar Opera House on Friday June 4 to aid the Willmar Fire Department. Further details to follow. Lawrence Wiggins, speeding east of the city, tipped his Ford coupe on the state road last Saturday evening. no injuries. Mr and Mrs A E Anderberg and son Ervin, with Mrs Fred Wojohn, motored to Swift Falls for a weekend visit. Mrs Anderberg stays a week while Mr Anderberg returns Sunday.
A large Willmar crowd is expected next Saturday for a Non-Partisan League rally to influence Minnesota Republican primaries. Henrik Shipstead, candidate for governor, will speak at Park Auditorium, with A C Townley arriving by air for an address. The day includes a picnic at the fairgrounds, Willmar Band entertainment, and a courthouse-to-auditorium march.
