Schumann Chorus to Sing in City at Bethel Church

The Schumann Ladies Chorus of 21 voices will perform at Bethel Lutheran Church in the City on Saturday evening May 27. A five day tour begins May 24 with soloists chosen from Gustavus Adolphus College students. Conductor is Er. Matthew Lantauist. admission 40 cents. Minneapolis Business Men Tour Ends With Willmar Visit

The annual tour of Minneapolis business men will reach Willmar on Friday May 26. The 151st Minnesota Field Artillery Band will perform an open air concert and other free amusements are planned. Lunch is to be served at the Masonic Temple. County rural schools close in late May with a county graduation tied to a similar schedule as last year.

Visitor's Day Showcases City School Exhibits

Hundreds of visitors toured city schools during May showing off student exhibits. Parents and friends viewed morning classes and evening displays, praising the quality of work across departments and commending teachers for their effort. E J Boomer fell twenty feet while hanging a sign at the Standard Lumber office. He landed on the sidewalk breaking his right leg and fracturing the left ankle. He received immediate care at Willmar Hospital. Elmer Johnson fractured his left ankle playing bat. treated at Willmar Clinic. City studies storm water in sewer system

The city council investigated sewer troubles in First ward and at Lafayette school finding fourteen surface water catch basins connected to sanitary sewers. Heavy rain or snowmelt flood the system, causing basements to flood. A storm sewer plan is proposed to relieve capacity and allow future extensions.

Sherwood Accepts School Board Appointment to Fill Resignation

Mrs. Jennie B. Sherwood accepted the recent appointment by the city Board of Education to fill the vacancy caused by Rev. G. N. Tegnel’s resignation who goes to Nebraska. The unexpired Tegnel term ends in July and Sherwood will serve until new elections that month.

Memorial Day Observance at Willmar by Nine Veterans Groups

Willmar plans a Memorial Day program organized by a nine member committee from three veterans groups: G A R USW V and American Legion. The schedule includes morning car transfers for grave decorations at Atwater Diamond Lake Eagle Lake and local cemeteries with taps at Atwater. A parade assembly at 1 15 pm and parade at 1 30 pm followed by a dinner at Carlson Hall served by Sophia L Rice Auxiliary. Volunteers and donors are urged to assist and attend promptly.
