Disastrous Fire Destroys Beckervenue East Home and Garage
A weekend blaze at the Ko a Butler family home on Beckervenue East damaged the residence and garage early Sunday. The fire, fueled by gasoline and oil, destroyed the structure and its contents, including a car, and left the origin a mystery. Neighboring properties were spared by calm winds. The home is owned by Ay Rice.

Girl Narrowly Escapes Drowning Near Nelson Boat House
A near tragedy occurred Tuesday evening near the pier at the Nelson boat house when Miss Alice Condon nearly drowned. Rescued by N Nelson and his son, she fainted on the return to the pier and was taken to Bethesda hospital by Dr. Benson. Miss Condon, a night waitress at the Great Northern eating house, has chronic appendicitis and underwent an operation this morning. She has been staying with Mrs. John A. Johnson, Second St and Pacific Ave. A free reading room in the church edifice is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
