Notable items include marriage plans of Daniel Downs and Mary Cody and local preparations for Decoration day and graduation ceremonies at Willmar Seminary with multiple students receiving diplomas.
Entertahanes and Secth the Rebekah lodge present an evening program at Odd Fellows Hall on Tuesday May 21 starting nine. Featured numbers include String Orchestra vocal solos Harold Handy piano solo Florence Couling recitation Alvin Nordstrom piano duet Alice and Cora Berkness speech Odd Fellows Home John Williams piano solo Esther Peterson vocal solo Marion Minton song and glee club. Refreshments to follow. All are invited.
The Willmar sewerage challenge stems from the city's height between two river basins and the lack of a comprehensive plan. Health officials urge a competent engineer to survey and map sewer grades before bonds worth ten thousand dollars for septic tanks are put to a special election, with residents to vote on street by street assessments after a full plan is developed.
The Board of Managers of Willmar Seminary elected Rev. C B Ingebrigtson of Clinton Minnesota as principal to succeed Prof H S Hilleboe who will head Benson High School next year. Ingebrigtson, a ten year minister, will move to Willmar early next month to prepare for the new term, with Hilleboe offering guidance in the transition. His late wife was Marie Glesne of Norway Lake. Citizens regret Hilleboe’s departure but welcome the new leadership and ongoing cooperation.
The Ladies society of the Lutheran Free church will host a supper and entertainment at the church parlors on Friday evening May 17. A warm supper starts at five, followed by a musical and literary program at eight o'clock. All are invited. Supper costs 25 cents for adults and 16 cents for children.
Willmar council adopted a report to dispense with the services of the chief of police. The street department and police chief role had been merged, but a night patrol and reserve officers will be used for protection. The slot machine ordinance was defeated as a targeted measure. A broader anti gambling ordinance is contemplated. Three Willmar youths competed in Kerkhoven for the Gold Medal, with Albert Porter winning.

The May 3 1907 special meeting confirmed Emanuel Christensen as night patrolman succeeding CG Birkeland with monthly pay set at 65 and bond at 1000. A May 14 1907 regular session approved listed bills, street and sewer plans, and side walk condemnations.
The Willmar High School graduation will be held at the opera house on Friday evening, May 31, with a list of diploma recipients including Arthur R. Anderson and Alice Berkness among others. Eighth Grade exercises follow on May 20 at the same venue, with about forty five students.
Effie Gabrielson Fred Smith and Edwin Sletten spoke for the affirmative in a town high school debate on federal measures. The negative, Flossie Smith Redge Sharpe and Leland Sather, won 2 to 1. Judges Mrs Sherwood Albert Porter and A O Forsberg praised all speakers. A post debate concert followed with string bands orchestra piano solos and choir songs. Receipts totaled 15.45 to defray the baseball deficit.
Mrs Elizabeth Gould Hays died last Monday evening in Willmar after a bronchial pneumonia followed by heart failure. She was 73 years, 10 months and 28 days, born in Harris Ohio, daughter of William A Gould and Mary Gould, and respected in the First ward community.
Large attendance marked all sessions of a special meeting at Ish Baptist Church led by Rev. A. G. Hall with four visiting ministers. Friday featured Young People's evening headlined by Rev. M Larson of St Paul. A free conference drew many locals to express desires to lead better lives, as attendees from Fahlun Lake Elizabeth Kerkhoven Maynard Grove City Lake Lillian and other areas visited and shared in the event.
