Real estate taxes due late this month. A 300 birth to Mr and Mrs O Jorgen Olson. Mrs C A Green visits Kandiyohi with daughter Mrs C A Broman. Numerous social events, church meetings, school news, and civic club notes from Willmar and nearby towns including appointments, travels, and community announcements.
The Willer Street Fair Association is organized with officers including OBR Berkners as president and Artoo Crosby as vice president. Dates set are September 13, 14, 15 and 16 with committees named for booths decorations and amusements at the Commercial Club room, the directors say the event will be a grand success.
A musicale will be held Saturday evening at the A F Hanscom home to benefit the Boy Scouts of the Junior CEF society of the Presbyterian church. The program starts at 8 pm with admission ten cents. The Boys Brigade, boasting nearly twenty members, seeks funds for uniforms and gun cabinets. Miss Mabel Williams oversees Wednesday and Saturday drills, guiding younger boys toward proficiency. Tickets are sold by Brigade members to boost patronage.
Marriage announced in Grand Forks North Dakota between Tillie Embertson of Grove and Thomas Murray son of John Murray Kandiyohi. Wednessday ceremony with home to be taken May 15. Murray and bride Had worked at Gaklund and Janerud photo gallery and will be greeted by many friends.
A writeup of the M. E. church concert held Wednesday evening April 26 was omitted from last week's issue. The home talent program drew a large, appreciative audience and featured Meadames Carr and Gondret in vocal duets, a vocal solo by Mia Cairne and Masc, and instrumental pieces including Beethoven and a piano selection by E. D. Dahlheim.
A landmark tranet era property known as the Big Store was sold last Saturday to F. G. Handy of the Bank of Willmar for 414,600. Previously owned by Meséra Paul H. Rolse and Albert C. Johnson, the brick building is now in Handy’s hands while Page-Lindquist Co. remains as tenant under a three year lease and will continue operating at the site.
A quiet home wedding was solemnized last Saturday evening at Mrs. Anna Lindahl’s Fifth Street home. Andrew Lindahl married Misa Tilda y Hond in a ceremony by Rev. G. Peterson. A small reception followed. Mrs. Emerson arrived from Arkansas to visit relatives of the couple. Mr. J. W. Haring of Ransom, North Dakota, longtime Willmar resident, died last August 15 from diphtheria while in Dakota. his wife and old settlers recall his health decline and move to Arkansas for better prospects.
James Hackerson a familiar town figure was arrested Monday by Chief House on selling liquor without a license and in larger quantities. The case led to a preliminary hearing before Judge Muller, with county attorney Olemosa for the state and Hackerson as counsel. Witness questions led to tense moments as the defense probe risked further cases. Bail set at 125. Hackerson remained in hotel custody awaiting grand jury action.
Willmar men file articles of incorporation for Farmers' Lumber Co and Dakota Development Co with the secretary of state. Board includes D N Tallman Andrew Larson and Mayor S B Qvale. Capital stock 100000 each. Aimed at town development across North Dakota including Gavalier Rolette Bottineau Ward counties with new towns on Great Northern extensions and twelve banks planned. Also notes a wedding at Atwater for A Berg and Edne Crocker with reception and trip to Rushford.
The board of trustees at Lamberton Orphans Home selected Rev. E. E. Gyaild as pastor and appointed the Fagle Lake congregation to assist. A summer building for fifty children will rise on the newly bought farm near Willmar, with a seniors’ home planned for next year. Architects Alban and Fisher drew the plans, to be approved with necessary changes. The Lutheran Synod church will be dedicated Sunday May 21 with special exercises. full program details will appear in the next issue.

The town mourns Jobo Magnuson Challberg aged 78 dies suddenly in a woodshed after dinner. He homesteaded in 1869, leaves two sons Charles and Frank, funeral at Lutheran church with wife buried nearby. Other items note a May 16 Minnesota Conference mission meeting at Lutheran church and Swedish language services. Mrs. Ove Nelson of Mamre dies from heart disease leaving husband and three children Albert Lizzie Edward. Nettie predeceased. community offers condolences.
Weather in Lake Andrew is cold with a chance of snow. Items mention illnesses and deaths including Misa Yuerboe of Arclander and Mrs Betesy Johnson, plus a marriage between J S Christenson and Miss Engen.
