Dam Project Sustained and Foot Lake Dam Approved

Judge Gorham Powers sustained the viewers report on establishing and maintaining Fool Lake at a fixed height. Willmar High Hosts Atwater In Home Debut Battle

Willmar High School meets Atwater High School next Thursday in the first home game of the season. The rivals have already beaten Willmar this year, promising a merry start to finish. Admission is 25 cents for adults and 15 for students. no games were played last week due to wet field conditions affecting Litchfield and Seminary Benson matchups.

Obituary of James Kelly Liveryman of Willmar

James Kelly of Willmar a senior partner at Kelly and Sanderson died last Thursday at 413 Third Street after illness and operations. Born November 5 1874 in Elgin Illinois he was 37 years 5 months 27 days old. He moved to Minnesota in 1889 and Willmar twelve years ago working on the Great Northern and with Downs Bros then forming a livery barn partnership with Ed Sanderson. He married Lucile Downs October 18 1905 and leaves a wife two children Phyllis and Francis, parents four brothers and four sisters. Funeral was at St Marys church with burial at Kandiyohi St Patricks cemetery. Pallbearers included local men from Kandiyohi Willmar and Spicer. Out-of-town mourners joined the service.

Ground breaks for new wholesale grocery house on West Pacific

Excavation advances despite wet weather for a 60 by 75 foot brick and concrete wholesale grocery building at the corner of Eighth Street and Pacific Avenue on the railroad right of way. The structure will have a high basement two stories, a loading platform, corrugated iron roof, and a main entrance on Pacific. Manager JH Mooney oversees the project from a temporary office in the old Swillins building opposite the site.

Willmar Hosts Key Primaries and Delegates

A busy political week unfolds in Willmar and Kaadiyahi county with primaries next Saturday to choose delegates for county conventions and presidential preference. Monday at 1 30 p m the county convention will elect thirteen delegates to the congressional convention and thirteen to the Republican state convention. Wednesday May 16 the Seventh District congressional convention meets at the Willmar opera house to select two delegates and two alternates for the national convention in Chicago. Gubernatorial candidates Lee and Gordon canvass the county with Gordon aided by supporters from Wheat, St Paul and St Cloud and Lee visiting towns in the week, voicing a fight between people and a political machine tied to brewery interests.

Willmar Club Allocates 50 for Best Kept Homes and Trees Plan

The Willmar Commercial Club approved 50 for cash prizes to reward best kept residences over June to September with monthly district block prizes. A move to plant trees on boulevards under the Street Department was endorsed. Roads committee reported securing about forty cars of gravel for state road improvements. Delegates to the District Republican convention will be hosted with an auto tour and social in Willmar.
