Rally in Willmar Hears Antisocialist Talk

In Willmar Minnesota on a Saturday May 1 the Minnesota Sound Government association held a conference. Antisocialist themes featured with principal speaker Harry Juned Wilbur of St Paul. Attendees and officials from surrounding counties attended the gathering.

State record in a baby clinic at Willmar

A nutritional clinic for underweight children hosted by Kandiyohi County Public Health Association examined 100 children last Wednesday. Dr. Hageman of St. Paul led the event with County Nurse Miss Imsdahl and praised mothers for cooperation. A weight clinic for ages five to sixteen is planned for Carlson Hall on Saturday May 15 with specialists from the University of Minnesota and extension nutritionists.

Raymond May hosts O J Kvale for congress talk

O J Kvale of Denson seeks the Republican nomination for Congress in this district. Endorsed by the Farmers and Workingmen's joint state convention, he will speak at Raymond Hall on Friday evening May 7 at eight. He is described as a close student of national issues and a clear presenter of political principles. Hildahl buys a cement factory on Twelfth Street and Litchfield Avenue, plans remodeling and potential leasing to another firm.

Navy Veteran Tmil Erickson Returns From Four Year Enlistment

Back from four years in the navy, Tmil Erickson of Spicer arrived home. He served aboard the Nabilestin Avion and travelled across the Gvean to foreign countries. He is the son of Ole Erickson of Spicer. J W Witham, a local farmer and philosopher, of Spicer, was in Willmar last Saturday en route from a trip to the Twin Cities.

Kandiyohi Republicans Convene for County Meeting

The Kandiyohi County Republicans met at the courthouse for a county convention. William Peterson of Atwater was named temporary chairman and L. Covell of New London secretary. Delegates were chosen from towns and wards to attend the State Convention and to elect a county chair.

Willmar Boss Honored By Former Staff At Diamond Ring Smoker

About forty engineers firemen and shop men gathered at the I O O F Hall last Saturday night to honor Geo Winney master mechanic of the Willmar Division for seventeen years. D F Dugan presented a diamond ring as toastmaster Wm Coleman introduced speakers. Winney urged cooperation with his successor Allman and thanked the men for their regard. The event ended at 10 p m with stories and well wishes for the future.

Fidelis Club to Meet at Olanders Home on May 10

The Fidelis of Bethel Lutheran will gather at 145 Becker Ave B on Monday evening May 10. Misses Agnes and Esther Olander along with Hazel and Myrtle Ostrom will entertain. A cordial invitation is extended to all attendees.

Farmers and City Labor Convene in Kandiyohi County

Farmers and city labor representatives met at the Kandiyohi County Court House in Willmar to endorse a full county slate for the fall, uniting labor and farmers. H S Nelson of Lake Elizabeth won the nomination for representative, with John Wicklund praising the move and a near sum collected for the campaign. George Jonicks was endorsed for Judge of Probate. Erick Holt Willmar, J Peter Johnson Burbank, and W J De Vries Holland were nominated for county commissioners.

Obituary notices for Mrs Olaus Anderson and others

The community mourns Olaus Anderson's wife Clara Emelia Bredeson Anderson, who died May 2 at a local hospital after heart failure following an operation. Born July 18 1868 in Willmar, she had seven children and five grandchildren. Funeral May 4 at Synod church with Rev. Art Vaaler officiating. Also noted are obituaries of Hans Martin Kjelsing created through farming life in Spicer with nine children, Albin Hegstrom, and Charlotta Bergdahl, detailing their birthplaces, families, and funeral arrangements.

Death of John W. Arctander Mourns Minnesota and Seattle

John W. Arctander former Minneapolis attorney is reported dead in Seattle. Born October 2, 1849 in Norway, he practiced law in Minneapolis until eight years ago, defended Judge St. Julien Cox in 1882, and later represented a street railway company. Survived by wife, four children, multiple brothers and a sister. his career included Willmar law practice and founding a newspaper later merged with the Willmar Argus.

First National Bank sets bids for new Bedford stone building

Directors opened bids for a corner bank block at Litchfield Avenue and Fifth Street to replace the Spicer Land Co. A J. H. Olsen & Co. won the general contract, L. J. Johnson the plumbing and heating, and Peter Pearson the electrical. Fronts 70 feet on Fifth, 50 on Litchfield. Work starts about June 1 with completion around February 1, 1921. Spicer to occupy south 25 feet on second floor. Entrance on Fifth Street. Bedford stone construction.

Three Now In Race For Representative

John Feig of Atwater filed on Monday for the nomination as representative from the 25th district embracing Kandiyohi county. With H. S. Nelson who has the N P League endorsement and John Swenson, who filed earlier, there are three filings for this office necessitating a June Primary. Swenson opens his campaign tonight in Dist. No. 45 with George Murray of North Dakota Rev. Oehler and others to speak. Royal Neighbors May Party at Maple Camp 884 set for May 11 with a full program of solos, recitations, and dances. Church Bazaar at Carlson Hall May 7

A Carlson Hall church bazaar invites the public for Friday afternoon and evening with lunch 20 cents, fancy and useful articles, a parcel post sale of 25 cent packages, a candy booth, and a fish pond.
