Willmar Highs win season opener 14 to 6 at Water

Willmar High School defeated Water Town in the first game of the season 14 to 6. Pitcher Carlson pitched well with solid support, Fritz Lindner and Bert Hubbins starred at bat, and errors fueled scoring. Willmar nine hosts Seminary team at Athletic Park next Saturday.

Old Settlers' Meeting Chooses Earlier Annual Gathering

Kun diyobi County Old Settlers Association executive committee met at Judge Nordin's office to set the annual meeting date. Members Rev E P Wicklund Hon L O Thorpe Judge A F Nordin and A O Forsberg attended. They voted to move the meeting a week earlier to secure a well known speaker. June 14 Thorpe named committee on speakers. The annual meeting will be held at Spicer with details to follow.

Thor Skindelsen Hurt In Wagon Accident Near Norway Lake

Thor Skindelsen of Burbank suffered a crushed forearm and multiple rib fractures when a wagon lurched into a rut, throwing him from the load near Norway Lake. He was treated at the Guaderavo hotel by Dr Hoftoe and later moved to his farm where he was reported improving.

Death of Eve Getchell

Willmar friends of Mr and Mrs T M Getchell who have lived in Rogers North Dakota express deep sympathy for them in the loss of their daughter Eve. The child died last Thursday at 2 pm after a three day illness from diphtheria despite careful care.

Quiet Home Wedding In Canby As Miss Hilda Sandberg Marries

At the residence of Mr and Mrs Ole Sandberg on south First street a quiet home wedding took place last Thursday afternoon. Miss Hilda Sandberg became the wife of Mr Elmer F Altman of Minneapolis with Judge Nordin performing the ceremony at eleven oclock. Relatives attended and Miss Anna Sandberg served as brides maid while Mr Weir Sandberg stood by the groom. The gown was white silk crepe de chine and the bride carried pink variations. A wedding luncheon followed with 22 at table. The couple received many gifts and plan to reside at 400 Delaware St S Minneapolis after a wedding trip. both have strong ties to Canby and Atwater respectively.

First meeting of State Bank of Pennock elects officers

The board of directors met Monday in Kandiyohi County Bank to elect officers for the new State Bank of Pennock. Andrew Larson was named president, D N Tallman vice president, J F Millard cashier, and Lawrence Thorpe assistant cashier. The bank plans to open May 24 with Millard overseeing operations until Thorpe is ready to assume active management.

Stillwater prison twine plant to profit about 115000

The Minnesota twine plant at Stillwater prison is projected to realize roughly 115000 in profit for the year ending August 31. Production will reach about 10 million pounds, an increase of around 4 million, with operations run at full capacity through harvest. Governor Van Sant visited the facility and local reports note strong earnings and a million-dollar business level.

The Emersons mourn the death of their 3 year old daughter from pneumonia after a ten day illness. Satchel Theft Fails to Marry Grievance to Burmister Grip

W G Burmister traveling representative for Marshall Field Co Chicago, reports his brown leather grip and overcoat left in a coach at dinner. The satchel containing jewelry and papers valued around 150 dollars and railroad mileage about 3000 miles vanished, while the overcoat was recovered. Burmister will press legal action if the thief is found.

Willmar Street Fair plans set for September 1904 dates

About twenty citizens met at the Commercial Club to organize a Willmar Street Fair for 1904. E C Wellle, O R Berkneys, Russell Spicer and others were elected directors with Russell Spicer as president Ole Rogen vice president W T Markhns secretary and W Jinney treasurer. The group aims to make the four day fair a success and to raise funds locally. August Kueter, a Breckenridge laborer, was robbed near the city Friday night of about nine dollars a gold watch and gloves with two suspects later brought to question but not identified. no arrests yet.

Somerville Buys Burr Property In Willmar Area

Last Wednesday through Anderson Land Co. Wm. Somerville became owner of the Burr residence and eight acres in the west part of the city for 2600 dollars. He has farmed south of Raymond and will move to Willmar to give his children better education. Possession is expected midmonth. Mrs. Burr will stay at the downtown residence on Litchfield avenue.
