Carleton Glee Club Concert Planned at Opera House

The Carleton College Glee Club will present a concert at the opera house next Monday evening. The St Paul Pioneer Press lauds the group after a Merriam Park Olivet church performance, praising Elton's tenor, the director Prof Gray, and the ensemble's high caliber and enthusiastic reception.

Willmar City Election Set For Next Tuesday

Willmar faces a quiet city election with a strong no-license stance likely to win. Three contests appear for municipal judge and two alderman seats in Third and Second wards, while several incumbents face no opposition. Petitions moved quickly after no pre election mass meeting was held, with Lawson and Hornbeck among late filings and Gratz withdrawing his renomination bid.

Monday Afternoon Club Enriches March 22 Meeting

Seventeen members gathered Monday afternoon March 22 with Mrs. Thomas for current events and a Chapter II study on the history of Chili. A pleasant sociable coffee period followed before resuming work. Mrs. Birch discussed the Japanese problem of the West. Mrs. Handy was thanked for her leadership during the president’s absence. The club plans to meet with Mrs. Rice on April 5.

Matrons' Silver Medal Contest Honors Mrs. Johnson

The Bonde hall program last Friday evening filled all seating as contestants received hearty applause. Judges Supt. C. Tanning Martin E. Tew and Atty. Elias Rachie awarded the medal to Mrs. Geo W Johnson, who was presented it by Mr. Rachie. Net proceeds run about 35 dollars. G A Thomas of Burbank visited Willmar yesterday.

Willmar civic meeting features Harris and generous pledge

A large Willmar audience at Carlson hall hailed W L Harris of Minneapolis as an outstanding civic speaker. He urged progress, praised local efforts, and donated 50 to park projects. After the talk guests shared a meal and discussed improvements, signaling a new era of community spirit.

Anxious Burbank Mother Stops Sun Flyer to Reach Son

A frantic dash in the dark across a field near Georgeville followed by a lantern signal saved a dying son. J O Iverson and wife chased the limited express to St Paul to reach Iver Iverson at Lutheran hospital. The engineer braked, the conductor met them, and Mrs Iverson boarded as the train pulled away. The son suffers peritonitis after arriving at the hospital.

Willmar Ice Cream Co Seeks Local Cream Supply

The Willmar Ice Cream factory plans to buy all next season’s cream from nearby farmers. It offers the highest market prices and payment in cash or store due bills. Last year $5,000 left the county for cream. the firm hopes to keep money local by partnering with area producers.

Atwater Man Wins County Poorhouse Keeper Bid

The county poorhouse will stay in Atwater for another year as Peter A. Nelson, of Atwater, was awarded the keeper contract by county commissioners after bidding. Nelson takes charge April first when the former keeper Mr. Sanchez’s contract expires. Mrs. Nelson will assist with inmate care.

March Settlement Totals 53850.24 From County Funds

The county auditor and treasurer complete the March settlement totaling 53850.24. It is allocated across funds including state revenue 4111.79, state schools 2774.37, county revenue 7117.57, county road and bridge 726, county poor 927.02, county ditch 1444.04, county school 618.07, towns 4051.10, villages 2400.80, Willmar city 6454.50, and school districts 23630.29 including state March apportionment.

Ike In Trouble Again And A Willmar Real Estate Deal

Ike Dudley Emerson was arrested Thursday for attempting to walk two ways at once and on Friday fined ten dollars plus costs or ten days in jail. He was released on Saturday pending good behavior and a promise not to return to town except in dire need. A. H. Brown reports the sale of the E. A. Broberg farm west of the city to O. W. Kerr Co of Minneapolis. The farm valued at 7,900 includes 156.3 acres. Broberg received title to the Barney Leary residence on South Fifth Street valued at 7,200. Further items note Miss Matilda Bonde birthday, Bethel Young People program, church events, and local obituaries.

Reverend Father Cleary to Speak in Willmar Monday Night

The Rev J M Cleary of St Charles Parish Minneapolis will address Willmar residents next Monday at 7 30 o clock sharp in the Bonde Hall on The Drink Evil. Admission for children is refused due to limited hall capacity. The Carleton Glee Club also performs at the Opera House the same evening and an intermission address may occur.

Kandiyohi County Secures $7500 Park Fund Share

Kandiyohi County receives $3,750 this year and the same next year from the state road and bridge fund, totaling $7,500 for 1906 and 1910. The fund rose to $600,000 for the two years, with counties receiving 50 percent more than the prior period. Other apportionments range from $750 for Cook County to $10,200 for Hennepin. Of Kandiyohi’s share, $1,150 remains to be drawn before the August deadline.

Kandiyohi County Awards Drainage Bond Contract

The county commissioners authorized a drainage bond issue of 29 513 37 dollars and awarded it to Union Investment of Minneapolis. The bid includes par plus $409.50 premium and blank bonds supplied at no cost. Maturities run about 16 200 in 1916, 12 000 in 1917, and the rest in 1918.
