A mass meeting of shareholders and others interested in the Willmar creamery will be held at the courthouse on April 1 1899 at 1 o clock p m to consider whether to repair the old creamery or rebuild it and also whether to move the creamery to another location. Rocky Mountain Tea advertised as the great spring tonic.
A Willmar grocery store anecdote centers on a ward voter wearing a tag who admits backing the temperance ticket while declaring he voted against liquor licenses. The tale includes a line of remarks about morality, reform, and the saloon as a social evil, urging parents to guide their children away from drinking.
The Temperance Committee heard R H Batte of the Anti Saloon League argue for county option. He said it would empower voters to decide saloon licenses locally and bring enforcement to county government. Local pastors and Senators supported passage. critics warned of de facto prohibition and drug stores with liquor. A farmers meeting discussed creameries shipping and cooperative terms, with plans to invite Prof Shaw or Haecker to speak next. Meeting set for Wednesday the 3rd at Bosco Opera House.
