Seventh District C O P Convention Held in Kandiyohi County

The Seventh District Republican convention met at the Kandiyohi county council. District Chairing1 welcomed 11 women voters to participate in political affairs and read the call. Sam Y. Gordon nominated Mr. Qvale for temporary chairman. Mrs Ida Hancock of Morris named temporary secretary. Committees were named on Credentials, Resolutions, and Permanent Organization. Miss Ella Swenson returns from Fergus Falls to resume stenography work at the Benton law office.

Obituary of Frank Lindblad of Coteau North Dakota

Frank William Lindblad died in Hot Springs Colorado in March 1920 at age 45 after influenza and pneumonia weakened him. Born November 22 1875 in this county he claimed land near Bowbells before running a hardware business in Coteau. He married Mary Trusson in 1902 and leaves four children Myrtle Pearl Johnnie plus widow and other relatives. Funeral was held at Svea Lutheran church with Rev J B Sorenson officiating. pallbearers listed.

Carey Accepts Position with Robinson-Cole Film Company

M H Carey has accepted a position with the Robinson-Cole film company of Minneapolis and assumed duties last week. He travels the southern part of the state while his family remains in the city. A church notice urges attendance at Lenten services with special music and messages from famous songs. Next Sunday services include Swedish language morning worship and English evening service, with ten members to be received on Easter. Sunday school at 10, with additional services at Oak Park and Kandiyohi if roads permit. Bethel Lutheran announces services in Swedish and English, with meetings for Sunday school teachers, confirmation classes, and district gathering next week featuring sermons by multiple pastors. Baptist Young People plan a medical missions program with leaders and musicians, inviting all to attend. Long Lake Y P S meets Sunday evening March 28 with fencing at 6 o’clock and welcomes all.

Seventh District Women Voters Open Convention at Willmar

The Seventh District League of Women Voters opened its convention at Willmar on a rough travel day. Mrs John Serrin chaired the opening, with Mrs CL Bedfeld of Benson as temporary secretary as committees formed. State president Mrs Andrew Aland urged uniting women on nationwide social legislation focusing on education, welfare, and women’s work conditions.

Henry B Benson Home Returns From Army Service

Henry B Benson returns to Willmar after four years in the U S Army. He enlisted January 10 1916 in the Cavalry served on the Mexican border with Pershing’s expedition and fought at Aisne Champagne Marne St Mihiel and Meuse Argonne before joining the Army of Occupation on the Rhine and mustering out March 19. He is the son of Mrs P A Stromberg of Willmar.

Willmar Workers Consider Joining Nonpartisan League

Representatives from eleven Willmar labor groups met at the J O O F Ball last Saturday to decide sending a delegate to the state Workingmen's Nonpartisan League meeting in St Paul on Thursday. The state gathering aims to select a state ticket in conjunction with the Farmers Nonpartisan League convening that day.

Runaway Accident Injures Henry Forsman Near Town

Henry Forsman residing south of town suffered a fractured bone in the upper leg when a runaway wagon struck him after unhooking horses in the Third Street feed barn. He was dragged about a block before falling and was taken to Willmar Hospital for treatment.

New Firm Buys Benson Ave Property In Town

S B Chapin and F J Bigham purchased the Benson Avenue building from Ward and Rod estates. The property includes a 50 by 50 foot lot and is valued at 6500 dollars. The millinery space will become the Chapin and Bigham electric shop and power equipment salesroom. Local tenants include Starbuck Millinery Singer Sewing Machine Agency and M J Martin barber. The sale changes local business use and introduces new enterprises.

Bergum and Poverud Wed in County Parsonage Ceremony

Miss Nettie Poverud of this county and Enoch Bergum of Swift county were united in marriage last Saturday at 10 30 a m at the Bethel Lutheran parsonage. Rev Jesper Holmquist performed the ceremony. The witnesses were Mr and Mrs Albert Poverud.

Citizens mass convention called for city offices

A city mass convention called by the city committee to nominate candidates for mayor city treasurer clerk assessor and ward offices will convene at the fire engine at City Hall on Thursday March 25 1920 at eight o clock. The election occurs April 6 1920 and nominees will be voted upon in the city election.
