Swedish Military Band Coming to Willmar

The Royal Crown Prince Hussar Regiment Band of Sweden will visit Willmar for a concert on Friday April 30. A local guarantee plan secured the visit, with a Willmar Red Wing and locals backing the engagement. The band of 25 trained musicians will be led by Lt John Ekblad and will be a historic musical event for Willmar drawing visitors from nearby towns.

Raymond News to Continue Under New Ownership

The Raymond News suspends publication after a farewell editorial by Frank E. Smith who has sold the paper to two Raymond business men. Smith plans to move to Calloway to pursue journalism. A birthday party at Mr. Geer’s home ends with gifts and a light reception.

Branham to Salt Lake City Herald reporter

Charley Branham, formerly advertising manager at the Fargo Morning Call now sold to Fargo Daily News, departs for Salt Lake City Utah to join the Herald owned by W A Clark. He expects no trouble though he disapproves of Mormonism and leaves with many Willmar well wishes.

Diteh Cases Decided In Arctander Damages Replaced

Judge Quale filed decisions in Ditch No. 27 Arctander listing three cases. Ole O Boe wins 465 damages for section 14 after viewers awarded 125. benefit assessment cut to 125 and section 11 canceled. Martin Hanson Engen gains 372 for section 12 after 75 and benefit 165 canceled. H E Ekren earns 410 damages for section 12 after 141. 88 benefit canceled and nullified.

Missionary Elema Leaves Willmar After Controversy

Elema and followers depart Willmar after nine weeks of meetings in the Fixen building on Third Street. The group faced clashes with city authorities, and Elema condemned Norwegians while criticizing other groups. Departure was prompted by a Tuesday confrontation with officials. Mr and Mrs C B Glarom visited St Paul for a few days.

Colfax town board met with Edw Larson. A surprise birthday gathering for Mr. and Mrs. Martin Thompson. Henry Johnson, 12, broke his arm at a windmill belt incident and was taken to Belgrade for care. Regina Olson returned from Rochester after appendectomy. A baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Peterson. Katherine Larson visited Willmar. others visited Larson home. Families moved from Eric Hanson farm to Louis Mikkelson place. Hanson farm now Gudroph Hanson. Henry Larson took a Willmar roundhouse job. Olaf Knutson hired to Knut Olson for summer. Adolph Wrolson to depart for Canada. Various visits and travels across the community. Rev. T. O. Tolo to conduct Eng. services.

Silver Medal Contest Friday Night at Bond er Hall

Under the Womans Christian Temperance Union Bon der Hall hosts a Friday evening program on March 26 at 8 o clock. The night features Welcome Song prayers solos duets and readings with contestants including Prohibition Warriors, One of the Fallen, Where the Emilies Bloom, Old Soapy, Arouse the Christian Conscience, and performances by Mrs. J. A. English, Mrs. C. E. Oberg, Mrs. J. R. Peterson, Helen Sather, Rev. Michaelson, Rev. Oberg, Mrs. G. W. Johnson, Mrs. Emma Cairns, Myrtle Miller, Marion Carlson, and Mrs. J. H. Styles. Admission is 15 cents for adults and 10 cents for children.

Ordained Ministers and Local Church News

Ordained ministers Ed Struxness and Radolph Estrem were ordained to Lutheran Synod ministry last Sunday at Milan and Fergus Falls. Both are Willmar Seminary alumni and Luther College, Town, and Hamline Theological Seminary graduates. Struxness heads to Mohill North Dakota and Estrem to Reeder North Dakota. The Aurora Y P S meets Crow River church on March 28. The Ladies Aid gathers April 7.

Wiggins Block Nears Completion on Fifth Street

J H Wiggins company plans a April completion for a new building on Fifth street. Basement and first floor house plumbing business while the second story offers three flats, including a six room and two four room units. The structure features a show room, skylights, built in kitchen equipment, gas plant, asbestos fireproofing, and metal window shutters for safety. Built by Andrew Bjorsell at about 15000 dollars, the project showcases Willmar’s business progressiveness.

Svea Co operative Store Organized At Svea

The Svea Co operative Mercantile company was formed at Svea with capital of 25 dollars. Helge Nelson elected president, Martin Swenson vice president, James Mattson secretary, John E Johnson treasurer, with Joseph Feifarek on the board. The group plans a store of its own or to buy Nelson Bros. of Svea and will affiliate with the Minnesota Right Relationship League. Shares 100 each, 84 subscribed, 10,000 offered so far, stock reports provided by auditors P. O. Nelson and R. Rasmuson.

Willmar Will Host Civic Reception For Business Leaders

Next Monday at 8 pm the Commercial Club of Willmar will host a social and reception in Carlson hall to foster civic fellowship and discuss park and street improvements. W L Harris of New England Furniture Co will speak on civic projects, with remarks from locals and music by the high school orchestra. A light lunch will be served and all concerned with the city’s welfare are invited.

Olson becomes state agent for Central Life Assurance

O Jorgen Olson has accepted the post of state agent for the Central Life Assurance Society with Fargo headquarters. He returns from a two week North Dakota trip on insurance business and leaves for his new field this week. The Tribune extends best wishes from Willmar and Kandiyohi county friends. Also announced is a summer school term for teachers in Willmar, with dates to be announced. Next Saturday is the last day to file citizenship applications to be heard at the June term. Clerk Ramsett reports ten applications thus far. The Ladies Auxiliary of the A C H cleared about 85 dollars from their St Patrick's day supper, a financially and culinarily successful event.
