Spicer Concert Promises A Lively Evening In Mardin Hall

Spicer orchestra will present a concert at Mardin Hall on Wednesday evening March 30 with a full program including overtures violin solos and readings. Admission is 25 cents with lunch served afterward for 5 cents. A large local audience and visiting relatives are noted among the attendees.

Mail train and engine collide near Y town

The east bound Great Northern Fast Mail at about 4 PM Friday collided with a switch engine near the Y a short distance west of town. The tender and cab were telescoped, the train left the track and toppled into the ditch. Superintendent Stewart was injured with two cuts on the head. he was dazed, then rested at home. Other officials escaped with shaking. conductor Netheway was uninjured. wreck cleared by Monday. over 1000 spectators viewed the recovery. Also noted are upcoming North ern Minnesota Educational Association meetings at St. Cloud April 7-9 and local church youth program on Good Friday March 25. Remains of Carl Johnson arrived. funeral held. he died of stomach trouble in Hepner Oregon at about 30 years old.

George Brogren Named District Agent for Saturday Evening Post

George Brogren is appointed district agent for Kandiyo hi county territory for the Saturday Evening Post. He currently supervises three boys who sell 175 papers weekly. A weekly contest awards a $1.00 cash prize to the top improver. Eugene Oh seg won two weeks ago, then Chester Nelson claimed the prize last week.

Corn and dairy exhibit highlights and a fatal derailment

The institute noted 86 entries in the corn and butter display and published prize winners. Victor Norsten and Fridalph Johnson walked ten miles to attend. Michael H. Conley, engineer of the Winnipeg Limited, died after the train derailed near Minneapolis. his bravery in braking the train is praised and he was to be married soon.

Becomes insane on board train during eastbound trip

Miss Anna Behrns enroute from Havre Montana to Millville Minnesota became violently insane on an eastbound flyer Friday morning. Four men held her in her seat until a sheriff and physician administered chloroform. She awoke easier but could not explain the disturbance. Papers found in her handbag showed she had taught out west and recently filed on a claim near Havre. She was en route to visit her parents in Millville.

March brings spring fever as Skaalerud youths host dinner last Sunday. Choir practiced at Mrs. L A Mostue's home. A festival is planned at Mr and Mrs Willie Larson’s home on April 2. Y P S of Hauge church meet at Gunder Pederson’s in Mamre next Sunday afternoon. Leonard Rustad visited home over the weekend and returned to Spicer school. Home Gardening Plan Expands in Willmar Schools

Willmar expands home gardening as a school program reaches more than 300 children. Pupils in grades four and up ordered seeds for a penny, with full instructions and lectures to follow. An exhibit may be staged at the street fair with prizes from local merchants. The initiative aims to foster pride and orderly care of youngsters gardens. In local news, seven year old Charles Daugherty died of diphtheria at 626 Second Street and the Daugherty family recovers. Endorses Rachie for Senate in 1910

P A Gandrud of Sunbury writes to Willmar Tribune endorsing Elias Rachie for state senator. He recalls Rachie’s service as Lac qui Parle County representative in 1905 and asserts Rachie is right on public questions. Gandrud urges Rachie to file and notes strong local support for either the senate or, if not, the 55th district representation.

Popular Engineer Married in Kerkhoven

Joseph Broberg of this city and Miss Minnie Bergin of Kerkhoven quietly wed at the bride’s mother Mrs. John Bergin home in Kerkhoven last Saturday evening at 6. Rev. A E Lysell officiated in front of a small circle of relatives. They expect to live at All Jessie street after April 15. Broberg, son of Mr and Mrs John Broberg of New London, has worked for the Great Northern seven years, the last three as engineer, and enjoys many railroad and local friends.
