March Term District Court Opens in Kandiyohi County

Kandiyohi County District Court's March term opens with Judge G B Quale presiding. Sheriff Peter Lande and officers organize the calendar, listing 81 civil and 16 jury cases, plus a nine-case criminal docket. The Shultz vs Spi cer hog case draws attention as the major civil matter, with a postponement dispute noted. Grand Jury seated for secret sessions and will handle several important indictments this week.

Flags Presented to Five New Citizens by Legion Auxiliary

Legion Auxiliary of the American Legion in Willmar prepared fourteen silk flags for new citizens awaiting District Court exams. Five men passed the tests and received flags with patriotic verses. Names of the five new citizens appear in this issue along with local court notices and jurors listed for Willmar and surrounding areas.

Sale of 64200 County Ditch Bonds Opens Bids

Kandiyohi County Board of County Commissioners will meet at the courthouse to open bids for the sale of 64200 public drainage bonds for Ditch No 19. The bonds mature through 1942 with the earliest in 1928 and carry 6 percent interest. Friday bids also open for six state aid road projects including extensive excavation, graveling, and culvert work with numerous quantities.

Church of God group travels to Montevideo meeting

A contingent from the local Church of God leaves the city Tuesday for Montevideo to attend the Middle Northwest gathering. Leaders include Rev. and Mrs. C. Seining crew completes work at Eagle and Florida Lakes

After months at Ea gle and Florida Lakes the seining crew harvested about 40 000 pounds from each lake including carp. The catch has been shipped East but rising market prices reduce profits, making the work no longer profitable.

Shultz Spicer Case Dismissed in District Court

The civil case of Loren L. Shultz of Oxford Ohio against Mason W. Spicer of Minneapolis was dismissed by Judge Daly in District Court after a court conference. The prosecution alleged hog property fraud and Medayto arm investment, with an earlier jury deadlock of seven to five in favor of the defendant.

Willmar Post Office Closes at 9 O Clock

The Willmar post office will close at 9 PM starting March 27 to speed rail service. Last outside mailbox collection occurs immediately after closing. A railway mail clerk joins train 9 west and delivers mail to points between Willmar and Minneapolis via trains 9 and 10.

Canvass results of city primaries reported

The city council announced official results from the recent city primaries listing the top two candidates for each office. Names include Lawson Anderson Odell Olson Gunderson Motander and others. several candidates declined to enter the April 4 election. A separate note covers the 15th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry reunion March 27 at the Capitol Building in St Paul with dinner price set at 75 cents.

Kandiyohi County March Apportionment Details

The State department publicized Kandiyohi County school apportionment for March totaling 14112.74 based on 4658 pupils at 2.03 per pupil. Comparison with 1921 shows 1921 rate 2.74 and total 12212.18. October apportionment expected higher. Henry Sterne of Aukarr reported a city caller on Tuesday.

Second Band Concert Planned for Willmar

The Willmar Band schedules a second concert within a few weeks with a tentative date of Sunday April 2 at the Dreamland Theatre. Vocal solos may feature Mrs Sophus Larsen or Mr Merold Tollefson. First concert drew overflowing crowds and strong receipts. more details will follow next week. Inspections of evening schools by J A Werner report good progress and eager participation among enrollees. Mary Burhap of Rose is employed at C G Engwall home.

What Block Twenty Means to Willmar

The Willmar City Council secured options on Block Twenty and bought the parcels for 31200 dollars. The plan ensures no financial loss as nearby land costs would exceed this price, and the city can rent buildings to cover interest until future use. When cleared, the city could salvage at least 3000 dollars from the lots.

Willmar considers site for future electric plant near railroad

The Water and Light Commission seeks a site near the current plant to connect steam mains and gain a sidetrack. Block Twenty meets requirements, but a new plant requires a public vote. Purchase of the West half of Block Twenty would be funded from earnings and does not commit the city to building.

City Market and Scale Proposal Near Business Center

The East block is bought to provide hitching and parking for visitors and a site for a city scale and market facilities. Block Twenty will meet daily needs with proximity to coal yards and market place and include side-track facilities. The Tribune endorses modern automatic weighing and notes possible rental income until a vote clarifies ownership.

Kandiyohi County Republicans Convene in Willmar County

Kandiyohi Republicans met at the Willmar courthouse with 72 delegates from the city and townships. George Otterness was named chair, Mrs. A C Carlson secretary, and several committees announced with ten delegates chosen for the state convention on March 31 1922.
