Town Village Elections Reported in Kaudiyobi County

Results from Tuesday last week show road and bridge appropriations across nineteen of twenty four townships. Officials elected include supervisors Treasurers clerks and justices with several constables chosen. The town apportions funds for town revenue and a four district road system established.

Adam Tait Pioneer of Diamond Lake Area Dies

Death visits Diamond Lake district as Adam Tait, third of the Tait brothers, passes away on March 16 after pneumonia. Born October 10, 1838 in Curehead Swatland, he emigrated to the U S in 1848, settled near Diamond Lake in Minnesota, married Lilian Sanderson in 1868, and left eight children and sixteen grandchildren. Funeral held with Rev Latimer officiating. nephews acted pallbearers and notable attendees traveled from Crookston.

Samuel A Miller a full blood Stockbridge Indian and Lutheran will speak at the Synod church on Tuesday night March 28 at eight o’clock about mission work among his race. Delmonico Cafe Sold to Embertsen and Lundquist

E T Sandbo sells Delmonico Cafe to Edward Embertsen and Amelia Lundquist who will take charge April 1. Embertsen, a former Green Lake boy, recently from Minneapolis, and Lundquist, long employed at the cafe, plan the change as Sandbo pursues a California ranch and Willmar restaurant legacy.

Twine history at Stillwater Prison explored by Farmers Alliance

R J Hall recalls efforts in 1890s to start twine production at Stillwater Prison using flax or jute fiber. He notes Governor Merriam ordered investigation, Joseph Todd proposed a 10,000 lb per day system costing $22,000, and that despite support the Old Prison Board bought imported machinery. The plant's setup spurred state farming industry and twine cost savings, with fiber price shifts and ongoing calls to test flax straw for usable twine.
