City Officials Endorsed At Annual Convention

The annual city main convention and ward caucuses Monday night nominated Mayor B.C. Wellin and others for re election by acclamation. Aldermen and constables were renominated, with tight ballots for Second Ward alderman and for assessor. The meeting set next year’s city committee and urged April 1 1918 income tax filings.

Prohibition Lecturer T. K. Thorvilson to Speak at Vinne Lutheran

Veteran Alaska speaker Rev. T K Thorvilson will deliver a free state wide Prohibition lecture at Vinne Lutheran church corner Fifth street and Becker avenue next Sunday at three in the afternoon. The talk will be in English. A whiskey and wine test event at the home of John Floren is planned for March 23 at eight o'clock.

High School Wins Second Game Of Series

In a fast City championship race game, the High School defeated Seminary 17 to 12 on their floor. Captain Lundquist starred with six baskets and strong guard play, while Kleve and Wallin contributed key passes and defensive holds as Erickson limited Wallin. A deciding game is planned for Thursday or Saturday with crowd receipts of 52 dollars.

Death of Ernest Howard Wanner at six weeks old

Dr and Mrs Edward Wanner mourn the death of their second son Ernest Howard, aged six weeks, from pneumonia. The funeral was held Tuesday with Rev Nicolay Nilsen officiating. The obituary notes brother Casper is two years old. A Social event features plays The Obstinate Family and A Pair of Lunatics at Dist No 70 west of Ringo Lake on Thursday March 28 at eight. Admission adults 25 cents, children ten. Proceeds support the Red Cross. J M Lambert has leased the old theatre building on Pacific avenue for Savoy Cafe. plate glass windows will be installed and 13 rooms prepared.

District court spring term convened and docket updates

The district court convened for the spring term last Monday with Grand Jury organized by foreman C W Odell and clerk C J Nelson. It was dismissed Tuesday noon. Five criminal calendar cases continued or settled, and four County Ditch No 37 appeal cases consolidated and on trial. Ivan A Coon enlisted in Coast Artillery leaving for Jefferson Barracks then camp. Mrs Coon to visit Eagle Lake with parents before joining him. County assessors meet March 26 at 10 at the Court House with Tax Commission official present. Andrew Hansen of Standard Lumber injures left ankle, three weeks recovery expected.

Kandiyohi County Farm Bureau Association now organized with 267 members. Prof. E. L. Rodegeb named county agent, to start April 1, to focus on seed corn. Temporary chair Chas. Eddy led meeting. committees formed on constitution by-laws and nominations.
