Eminent Scholar of Scandinavia to Lecture Friday Night

Friday night March 19 Dr H G Leach secretary of the American Scandinavian Foundation will lecture at Seminary Hall beginning at 8 13 o clock. The eminent scholar will discuss the Viking voyages and the discovery of America with lantern slides illustrating the subject and will cover the period he specializes in.

Scandinavian Scholar To Discuss World Civilisation

Dr Leach will visit to discuss the reach of Nordic conquest from Russia to England and its influence on world civilization. A banquet at Odd Fellows Hall will follow a lecture, with tickets obtainable from committee members. Fifteen citizenship petitions were granted at the spring term, including Meyer, M yer, Raun, Selseth, and several Swedish and Norwegian applicants.

Pastor bids farewell to Christine church in Lake Lillian

Rev Alexander Peterson preached his farewell sermon as pastor of Christine church of Lake Lillian last Sunday. He moves this week to Stockholm and Little Plum near Maiden Rock Wisconsin for new charge. His departure is deeply regretted by the community and especially the churches he has served. A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Milo Jones Monday morning.

Local High School Triumphs In District Semi Final

The Willmar area team defeated Madison 28 to 27 in a tight playoff at Seminary gym to clinch the seventh district spot and earn a shot at Northfield for the state title. Garborg led with seven baskets, while Severinson added key scores as Madison fought hard.

District Court Opens with New Deputy Clerk Appointments

The spring term of district court 8 opened with Judge R T Daly presiding at the courthouse. Walter Haines was approved as deputy clerk of court. Several civil cases progressed. Lippert was dismissed, Schoenborn continued. The grand jury reported two indictments, Sorenson for forgery and Purtzer for grand larceny. An entertainer Josephine H Dominick was billed for a Presbyterian church lecture next Wednesday with a Swedish dialect act.
