Surprise gatherings mark week in Spicer-on-Green Lake area
In Spicer-on-Green Lake during the past week several surprise parties were held for neighbors including Mr. and Mrs. Willie Monzon, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carltan, and Miss May Thompson with about 75 attendees. Community members traveled, visited relatives, and planned moving to Washington. Religious services are noted for Sunday. local social life includes sleigh rides and visits between Willmar, Clara City, Atwater, and neighboring towns.
Falls Dead From Sleigh Fall in Lake Lillian settler Owre dies
Lorentz P. Owre an early East Lake Lillian settler dies after being found unconscious near his home while driving to Thorpe. Apoplexy blamed. he had heart disease and a stroke years earlier. Survived by a wife and five daughters, plus a brother in Canada. He helped establish Lake Lillian township and served as Justice of the Peace and acting postmaster at Thorpe.

Oscar E. Nelson and Louisa G. Sorenson wed quietly Sunday afternoon at four at the home of Mr and Mrs Nels Knutson. Rev J N Anderson of the Lutheran Synod church officiated. They will settle on the groom’s Viking N D farm near the city. Nelson formerly wagonmaker in Willmar and is brother to Mrs Knutson and Mrs Holmberg. The bride came from the old country two years ago. Walter Sherman the 13 year old boy who disappeared last April has been heard from in southern Missouri and is expected home this week. He rode from Prior to Clinton by pony then train to Minneapolis where trace was lost. His escapade followed reading dinner novels about runaway boys. He is glad to return. J H Olson awarded remodeling contract for Litchfield high school. Five bidders. Olson bid 17 595 dollars for general contract exclusive of heating and plumbing, about 1 100 less than Schelde the next lowest bidder.

Chinese Laundry Returns to Benson Avenue
Liu Si Lun, a 53 year old native of China with wife in China and a son in the laundries in this country, takes over the Tyler building on Benson avenue as a Chinese laundry and plans to open by next Monday. Lun arrived in 1873 and has run laundries in many places, is a friend of Hum Bang who starched bosoms in the city, and says business is humming with Bang.

Matrons Will Contest For A Medal And Obituary Notes
The remains of Mrs. L. Lindsay were brought from Livingston Montana for burial in the Catholic cemetery after a service led by Rev. Schumacher and Rev. Malloy. Lizzie Gerstle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gerstle, was wed to Mr Lindsay who died before. Surviving relatives include a husband, parents, three sisters, two brothers and several relatives in Minnesota North Dakota and Minnesota.
