Miss Clara Dunn spent Sunday at her Northfield home. O H Locken made a business trip to Clara City. Judge Muller traveled to the cities on a short trip. Several names visit Minneapolis St Paul and nearby towns. J P Dahlberg returned to Kerkhoven after a weekend with Erickson and Edberg. Bernhard Glarum comes home from Tacoma to farm near town.

Surprise gatherings mark week in Spicer-on-Green Lake area

In Spicer-on-Green Lake during the past week several surprise parties were held for neighbors including Mr. and Mrs. Willie Monzon, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carltan, and Miss May Thompson with about 75 attendees. Community members traveled, visited relatives, and planned moving to Washington. Religious services are noted for Sunday. local social life includes sleigh rides and visits between Willmar, Clara City, Atwater, and neighboring towns.

Falls Dead From Sleigh Fall in Lake Lillian settler Owre dies

Lorentz P. Owre an early East Lake Lillian settler dies after being found unconscious near his home while driving to Thorpe. Apoplexy blamed. he had heart disease and a stroke years earlier. Survived by a wife and five daughters, plus a brother in Canada. He helped establish Lake Lillian township and served as Justice of the Peace and acting postmaster at Thorpe.

Mrs Alf Erickson travels to Minneapolis for planned operation. Lilly Erickson keeps house for Alfred while his wife away. Dr Hoftoe of New London called to Sonstegard due to illness. Several residents visited others and passed along routine social news.

IDAKOTANS MARRIED AT WILLMAR CITY

Oscar E. Nelson and Louisa G. Sorenson wed quietly Sunday afternoon at four at the home of Mr and Mrs Nels Knutson. Rev J N Anderson of the Lutheran Synod church officiated. They will settle on the groom’s Viking N D farm near the city. Nelson formerly wagonmaker in Willmar and is brother to Mrs Knutson and Mrs Holmberg. The bride came from the old country two years ago. The Tribune extends best wishes for a long and prosperous married life.

Bethany Lutherans Meet With Program In Church Basement

The Bethany Young People's Society of the Lutheran Free Church will meet Friday evening March 12 in the church basement. Refreshments by Mesdames G O Sand and J C Strand. Program includes vocal solo Karen Hanson piano solo Ethel Going reading Alfin Jacobson speech Rev Nordberg New London vocal solo Mrs P C Tanning reading T O Gilbert piano solo Hazel Pederson. Walter Sherman the 13 year old boy who disappeared last April has been heard from in southern Missouri and is expected home this week. He rode from Prior to Clinton by pony then train to Minneapolis where trace was lost. His escapade followed reading dinner novels about runaway boys. He is glad to return. J H Olson awarded remodeling contract for Litchfield high school. Five bidders. Olson bid 17 595 dollars for general contract exclusive of heating and plumbing, about 1 100 less than Schelde the next lowest bidder.

Ladies Store Finds Comfortable New Ruble Block Home

The Ladies Store settles in bright Ruble block quarters with cream walls and neat displays. O. A. Sandren opened four years ago and has built a growing patronage. Stock includes ladies and children's outfitting with an alterations department for garment changes. The proprietor Sandven is praised for successful efforts and optimistic about future prosperity.

Chinese Laundry Returns to Benson Avenue

Liu Si Lun, a 53 year old native of China with wife in China and a son in the laundries in this country, takes over the Tyler building on Benson avenue as a Chinese laundry and plans to open by next Monday. Lun arrived in 1873 and has run laundries in many places, is a friend of Hum Bang who starched bosoms in the city, and says business is humming with Bang.

Matrons Will Contest For A Medal And Obituary Notes

The remains of Mrs. L. Lindsay were brought from Livingston Montana for burial in the Catholic cemetery after a service led by Rev. Schumacher and Rev. Malloy. Lizzie Gerstle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gerstle, was wed to Mr Lindsay who died before. Surviving relatives include a husband, parents, three sisters, two brothers and several relatives in Minnesota North Dakota and Minnesota. A Lincoln Memorial fund drive is noted with March 15 deadline. A matrons contest for a Silver Medal will be held at Bonde Hall on March 26 with several speakers listed. Graduation exercises at Lake Lillian District 88 on March 12 feature a program of songs recitations and diplomas. Elis Nordblad to Minneapolis trip signals spring moves

Swedish Baptists to Build New House of Worship Soon

By September 1 the Swedish Baptist church plans a new cement block basement and brick main structure with about 300 seats at an estimated cost of 7000 dollars. John Skoolheim draws plans and construction will start after frost ends, aiming for completion by September next.
