Bank passes million mark in business growth

Kandiyoui County Bank surpassed one million dollars in total resources on March 4, reaching 1,006,706.05 with loans, discounts, deposits, and cash. officers view it as a milestone and sign of community confidence, though a slight dip is expected. A public coffee at the Rest Room on March 21 raises funds for the Rest Room. Mr. and Mrs. M. Folz moved to a new home near Milroy, Minnesota.

Erika Erickson Death Notices and Obituary Highlights

Kandiyohi region obituaries report Mrs. Christine Erickson dies after influenza complications at Kandiyohi. Born Feb 20 1855 in Undervik Sweden she immigrated 1883 with husband Peter Erickson who died 1915. Survived by four sons sisters and a brother. Funeral at Oak Park M B church. Also noted are Peter E Olson death at Colfax age 50 and 13 days with nine surviving children and a 1912 daughter Ruth. services March 3 at Colfax with Rev Ostling. Includes brief notices of Mrs P W Anderson and Osmund P Rannestad with burial at Riverside and Eagle Lake respectively.

4GE CHASE WINS THIRD PLACE AT MACALESTER

Joseph Chase a junior at the local high school earned third place in a discussion on the preparedness question held last Thursday evening at Macalester College. First went to Miss Linner Linner of Litchfield. second to Miss Jennie Wall of Chisholm. Twenty two schools entered. seven were chosen to speak. Judges included C. G. Schulz J A O Preus and C W Boardman.

Seven speakers split sides in debate honors awarded

Of seven speakers three took the negative side and four the affirmative. The audience vote was 120 to 48 in favor of the negative. First prize was a gold medal, second a silver, third a bronze.

Sande-Kloster Wedding at Kandiyohi Home

A pretty home wedding united Miss Lillie Alphia Sands and Morgan Kloster Saturday afternoon at the Arvid Anderson residence in Kandiyohi. Rev EB Larson officiated before about fifty relatives and friends. The bride wore white crepe de chine with filet lace and carried white carnations. Emma Kloster was bridesmaid. Lawrence Sands attended. A three course dinner followed. guests traveled from Alvarado. The couple will reside on the groom's Eagle Lake farm after April 1.

Confirmation Service at St Luke's Episcopal Church

The Rt. Reverend Samuel Cook Edsall D D Bishop of Minnesota will be at St Luke's Episcopal Church next Tuesday evening to administer the Apostolic rite of Confirmation at 8 o'clock. The public is cordially invited to attend this service. A further note invites all to attend an entertainment by Altrumans on the same evening. Trio of Debaters Earn Seventh District Champs Title

By beating Elbow Lake a couple of weeks ago this trio returned the district championship to this city after years away. It is the first year of debating for the girls, who are juniors with one more year to represent their school and a likely next championship. Much credit goes to Miss Lange for drilling the debaters.

Talented Musicians to Appear in Recital

Miss Ina Brynilsen, a pianist with notable training in the United States and Europe, was to present a piano recital at the Masonic Temple. Commercial Club Aims to Boost Membership and Facilities

The Commercial Club discussed increasing members to amplify its positive impact and assigned a committee to pursue better club quarters. A spring get-together was planned with a shared meal and a call for a Sunday gathering to discuss a Y M C A or similar youth space. Roads to the city were noted as poor this winter with a plea for snow plows to keep main routes open. Also reported are social notes about Miss Mae Broman’s surprise birthday gathering, and upcoming Y P meetings at Western Dovre and Christine Lutheran organizations. Continental church notices and a funeral for Mrs. Peter Erickson were noted.

Farm Home Destroyed By Fire In Mamre Township

The late Gilbert Anderson farm home in Mamre township was totally destroyed by fire last Sunday at five pm. Mrs Henning Anderson and three children escaped with the help of Oscar Olson as neighbors failed to stop the blaze. The family plans to live with Albert Carlson temporarily while Henning plans spring rebuilding. The residence valued at 1800 dollars was insured for 1300. Also notes on local church meetings and ladies aid events are included.
