Mass Meeting Called for Willmar Temperance Voters

The Civic Federation calls a mass meeting of temperance voters in Willmar on Friday night March 10 1905 at Bonde Hall. Attendees will nominate an independent city ticket by petition and form committees for the city campaign. offices include mayor treasurer clerk registrar municipal judge and one alderman per ward.

Tobacco stash found hidden near railroad piles

Chief Bonde of the police arrested two youths after they reported finding a grain sack filled with Duke's Mixture tobacco tucked in crevices above a pile of ties north of the tracks. The sack resembled items stolen from Bancrom's warehouse, suggesting linkage to a prior theft.

Mass Meeting Held by Civic Federation Targets City Nominees

A large Civic Federation meeting on Friday evening urged a mass meeting of temperance voters to nominate a complete city ticket for the upcoming election. Resolutions called for a nonpartisan city administration and for pursuing a prohibitory amendment to the City Charter with legal aid and charter submission to voters. President Osterholm announced resignation due to health, but the federation declined to accept it, and Rev Caterbolm pledged continued support as about seventy five members attended.

Church Youth Society Delivers Strong Fund Drive

The Synod church young people's society met Monday night to hear a program in the church parlors. A crowded audience enjoyed vocal and piano solos, a recitation, a vocal duet, and a talk on the St. Louis Exposition. The group voted to subscribe 400 to the church building fund, with proceeds from the event around 28.

Navy Veteran Wesley E Green Visits Willmar Home

Wesley E Green returns from four years in the U S Navy on four months furlough and arrives in Willmar. He departed San Francisco late January and plans to visit relatives before possibly rejoining service. Most duty was in Manila and the Philippines aboard Marine Engineering as head machinist. He holds a degree from Highland Park College Des Moines and collected naval curios during travels. After Minnesota he intends to travel to Seattle to stay with brothers Fras and Philip.

A last week change at Fred W. Segerstrom Supply Co. makes Segerstrom and D Grasboia of German America Bank sole owners. Segerstrom holds two thirds, Grasboia one third, with Segerstrom to run the business and relinquish the Atwater bank proposal. The family plans to move back home around April 1.

Tobacco dealer fined for selling to minor on Pacific Avenue

Ludvig Ellefson, a confectioneries dealer on Pacific Avenue, was arrested yesterday for selling tobacco to a minor. He pled guilty in Municipal Court before Judge Muller and was fined 83 and coins, which were paid.

Telephone Company Meeting Reports Line in Working Order

The Willmar and St Johes Telephones Co met at the North school house in Dist No 63. The 14 mile line serving 12 patrons was in good order. The board decided to continue at 25 dollars until July 1 when it will rise to 40.
