Willmar State Hospital to be renamed and expanded
Governor Burnquist signed a bill changing Stace Hospital Park for inebriates at Willmar to Willmar State institution. The move shifts more state money to the facility, expands capacity with new cottages and a central kitchen, and speeds growth to relieve other institutions. The insane department remains, with existing hospital buildings used for that purpose.

A fire in a duplex on B Litchfield Avenue damaged furniture from smoke after an electric iron overheated when turned on. The L E Haines and Richard Armstrong families evacuated. no injuries. House: ER'S Club Meets Regular Monthly
The Housekeeper's Club held its regular monthly meeting at the Odd Fellows hall with good attendance. A program of glee club selections and a reading by Mrs. J. D. Parnell preceded business, which included a vote to maintain the Public Rest Room next year if the Commercial Club provides aid. A Playground Association of America representative urged local club support for starting a local association, which the group declined.

Pioneer Citizens Are No More
Three longtime Whitefield pioneers, P. P. Lillegaar der, Peter Peterson Dillegsarden, and Ole M. Johnson, have died within days, leaving families and communities mourning. Lillegaard er died March 1 at his son P. C. Peterson’s home in Willmar after a two month cancer illness at age 76. Peterson Dillegsarden, born in Norway, settled Whitefield then Willmar, active in Norwegian Lutheran life, survived by twelve grandchildren. Johnson, 77, died February 27 at his daughter Emma C. Johnson’s Willmar home after two weeks illness, honored as a Willmar city pioneer and Baptist church member. Funeral details noted.
