Swedish M. E. Church Special Services Begin This Week

The Swedish M E church announces special services starting tonight and running through the week at 7 30 p m with Rev George Anderson of St Paul preaching and Rev Axel Anderson assisting. The Ladies Aid meets Thursday at 2 30 p m with refreshments by Mrs Petterson. Sunday services include 10 a m worship 11 a m Sunday school and 6 45 p m Epworth League with Miss Annie Brandt leading. An Epworth social is planned Friday at the M W A Hall with supper at 5 30 p m. The Presbyterian Ladies Social Union hosts a coffee at Mrs Anton Bakke’s home Friday afternoon March 5 inviting all.

Death of Norwegian peddler in Hub hotel

B G Larsen aged about 59 died Friday at the Hub hotel after a long struggle with stomach cancer. He had traveled the United States for almost 30 years, selling trinkets and buying waste materials. A niece from Eland Wis. and a sister from the old Mrs. Gunderson will bring his remains to Wittenberg Wis. for interment. Larsen left $200 in cash and was last living as a guest at the Hub since February 2. His dog Topsy mourns him at the hotel.

Changes caver Shops and White House-Confectionery

About a week after Theodore Roosevelt leaves the White House Rosby will move into the White House Confectionery on Litchfield Avenue, the former Lyder Berg site. The building will be overhauled and Rosby promises a premier confectionery near the city. Berg moves to the Ladies Store location on Fifth Street to continue his business.

A curious note notes a new register of deeds arriving Sunday. It hints he may become a prominent campaigner like his father as locals are urged to visit the courthouse office for a sample cigar or pie and coffee, revealing a light political flavor in the piece.

Per Person Severely Injured In Runaway Incident

Per Person, aged about 70, was badly injured Saturday afternoon when a tug loosened from a horse causing the pole to fall and the team to run away. He was thrown to the ground, knocked unconscious, and the horses passed over him twice before he recovered. He was then taken to his son Ernest Person’s home at 512 Seventh Street to recover. Doctors found two broken ribs and a severely sprained back. recovery remains uncertain given his age.

High School Girls and Morris Meet in Season Opener

The high school basketball team opens the season next Friday evening at the high school gym against Morris. Star players promise an exciting matchup. Admission is 25 cents general with 10 cents for students. Willmar lineup includes Ralph Hornbeck Francia Downs William S. Johnson Fred Smith and Herbert Hengstler. Mrs G E Quale hosts the Ladies Guild at St Luke's church tomorrow afternoon.

Norse Centennial Plans discussed in Minneapolis

Senator L. A. Thorpe and prominent Norwegian Americans met in Minneapolis to map a monster May 17 1914 centennial celebration of the birth of Norwegian independence. The event may be held in Minneapolis with funds raised for a “Gift of Remembrance” of one million crowns to Norway for a national improvement.

Young Tennessee couple married by Rev Peterson

A quiet Monday afternoon wedding at the Swedish Lutheran parsonage joined Louis T. Mattson of Gennessee and Jo sephine Anderson of Lake Lillian in matrimony. Maid of honor Lydia Mattson and bridesmaid Amy B. Anderson attended, with A. C. Anderson as best man. The couple planned a short honeymoon and home on the M. Mattson farm in Tennessee. Fateful Bottle Persists in Willmar Courtroom Drama

In Willmar Minnesota a one third full pint bottle of whiskey is repeatedly introduced in municipal court as evidence against Olson and his alleged illegal bar at the Crystal Palace. Olson appeals, pending district court, while Lofgren serves 80 days in jail for failing to pay fines. The Palace fixtures were auctioned and returned to storage.
