City Wide July 19 Festivities Planned By Elks Lodge

The Elks Lodge under auspices will host a city wide celebration on July 19 with a large parade, children's events, races, a barbecue, and a water carnival. A 1922 Chevrolet touring car prize and dance ticket are being sold, with committees led by E. J. Boomer and others coordinating decorations, refreshments, amusements, and publicity.

Outing Party Visits Ramsey State Park in Minnesota

Misses Minnie Fridlund Alma Mar Anson and Mrs Hazel Herrmeyer Mr and Mrs Paul Peterson joined Melvin Root Raleigh Erickson and Oscar Fridlund for a Sunday drive to Olivia Morton and Redwood Falls where they spent the day at Ramsey State Park in Redwood Falls Minnesota.

Carlson Children Escape as Ford Flips Near Pennock

Ella Carlson drove a Ford that turned over several times on the highway three miles north of Pennock during a midsummer picnic trip. All four siblings Ella Roy May Irene Carlson escaped with scratches and bruises. the car was wrecked and the rear wheel failed. Alvin Carlson and Mrs. John Dickson aided in rescue and transport to the picnic grounds.

Six Weddings In One Day In County

Today June 28 six weddings occur in the county with three at Atwater. At four p m Miss Florence Christianson and Albin Freed of Fahlun township wed by Rev J B Sorenson. In Irving Zion Lutheran church at high noon Miss Dagny Thorson and C S Simonson wed. Miss Ruby Luther of Willmar attends. Another ceremony unites Miss Mildred Ecklund and Henry C Hanson of Dovre township.

Fourth filling station rising at Litchfield and Tenth

Construction begins on H B Zimmerman’s fourth filling station at Litchfield Avenue and Tenth Street. Cost about 8500 dollars. Red tapestry brick and stucco with white trim. Four 10 gallon pumps. Bartlea-Scott Oil to supply. Completion expected by August first. Zimmerman’s rural farm will be rented out.

Auto Crash Leaves Car Badly Smashed at First Turn

A. Johnson tipped over while driving N. Botuen s Ford north of the state farm toward Spicer. Both occupants escaped injury but the vehicle was badly damaged.

Orphan Drowns At Eagle Lake In 14-Year-Old Maloy Halland

Maloy Halland fourteen, an orphan at Bethesda Young Peoples Home near Marshall, drowned at Eagle Lake Saturday at 8 30 pm while using a plank to stay afloat. He failed to reach shore and sank in six feet of water. Doctors and coroner were notified, body recovered at 11 30 pm, revival efforts failed. He came to the Home on February 2, 1918, and was interred beside other orphans at the Home cemetery yle.

Miss Judith Thyden wins Missing Word Contest prize

The sixth Missing Word Contest in the Tribune ends with Judith Thyden as the winner after forty letters failed to answer all three correctly. She earns the $1 prize as the others receive no full marks while ten contestants had two correct. Separate items note a Buick crash near Eagle Lake injuring driver John Powers with minor injuries and vehicle damage.

Town Board Closes Kandiyohi Beach Dance Hall Sunday Dancing

The Fahlun Town Board ordered closing of Kandiyohi Beach Dance Pavilion to Sunday dancing with a $500 license fee and a 10 PM weekday curfew. Sheriff Peter Bonde enforced the ban at Kandiyohi Beach. attempts by Matadorf and attorney Lauerman failed. This marks the last Kandiyohi County hall ceasing Sunday dances.

Girl Taken Off Freight By Police

A young woman about twenty was removed from a eastbound freight at Wayzala by Fred Nolan, Willmar yard sergeant, after boarding in Minneapolis with another woman. She traveled freight to Willmar, where Nolan collected funds to buy a ticket to Minot, North Dakota. She left on Friday’s early train. home listed as Buffalo, a large family.

Vacations Beginning For Willmar Post Office Staff

Willmar Belgrade Baseball Showdown At Local Park

Stavanger Laget draws a big crowd for a Sunday game at East Becker Avenue between Willmar and Belgrade with chief pitcher Gunder on the mound for the visitors. New London plans to attend and hopes Gunder can limit the locals to few runs as the best park game this season unfolds. The local management thanks patrons from last Sunday and invites all to make the ball club their own. Tonight at 6 the Lake Lillian squad visits, riding a twelve game Kandiyohi county streak.

Four Wedlocks In Atwater This Week

Four Atwater brides are to wed this week with three ceremonies today and one on Friday. Selma Senechal, daughter of D. F. and Mrs Senechal, will marry George Freeman of Dassel. The Rev F B Pasche will officiate at Harrison German Lutheran church. The couple will reside in Dassel where the groom works. Ruby Bergquist, daughter of Erick and Mrs Bergquist, weds Edward Miller son of John Miller. She is a former school teacher and they will live in Atwater. the groom is a telephone lineman. Lillie Carlson, daughter of Alfred and Mrs Carlson, marries Leonard Holmgren of Rosendale. They will farm in Danielson township. Carey Larson, daughter of Peter and Mrs Larson, a school teacher, marries Rev John Trelstad, Bethlehem Norwegian Lutheran church pastor, in a Friday church ceremony.

Picnic at Lake Koronis celebration for park plan

Two Day Norwegian Union Draws Natives to Crookston and Willmar

Natives from across the U S and Canada gathered in Crookston and Willmar for a two day reunion of the Stavanger Laget. Delegates enjoyed bands parades banquets at Northwest Agricultural School and a large Stavanger Lager gathering with banners from many parishes. Events featured welcoming addresses, new banners presented, and a Sons of Norway Mass chorus with sermons by Revold and Judge T O Gilbert.
