City Trusts Rejected In Willmar Vote Across Wards
Willmar residents vote down continued trust domination in a citywide election, with the public utilities ordinance passing by a three-fifths margin. Ward-by-ward totals show broad support for the measure while turnout remains about half the electorate. The council now faces appraising exchange property and funding to acquire it, with calls for a citizens tele phone committee and subscription drive for city certificates.

Narrow Escape From Drowning at Eagle Lake in City Fishing Trip
George Robbins Henry Palm and Albert Locke of this city nearly drowned when their boat capsized off Erick Olson point at Eagle Lake last Wednesday evening. Rescuers M C Thorpe and son Nordahl paddled over a quarter mile through rough water to reach them. Robbins alone could be pulled into the rescue boat, the others towed ashore exhausted but alive. The group later recovered parts of their gear and returned home. Also noted is a Fire Department picnic at Eagle Lake featuring games, ample bread and a $20 collection for Mrs Belson, widow of Nels Benson, and a plan to provide diphtheria antitoxin at cost in Willmar with Mossberg drug store as a supply point. Alice Berkness is visiting in Minneapolis for a month.

Reports show a brakeman L. E. Draves of Great Northern killed near Clontarf while switching at the stockyards. He was swept by a chute from a freight car, lifeless by the time companions reached him. Remains sent to Benson then Abbotsford, Wis., for burial. Draves, 26, left behind a wife and two children.
