Last Week’s Cooking School a Success

A History of local clubs notes a cooking class by Miss MacDonald at the synod church, with good attendance and donations totaling $98.50 from tickets. Proceeds of $71.48 were given to the Willmar Red Grass society for tuberculosis relief. Also covered are birthday honors for Mrs. E. B. Porter, Miss Flossie Smith’s bridal month, a slipper guessing game, and Mrs. Ole Lundquist hosting Miss Johnson. The Frost baby William Wilcox Frost was christened at St. Luke’s church.

Willmar Hosts Grand Sangerfest By Scandinavian Societies

Willmar Park Assembly Auditorium will host a July 14 concert by Twin Cities Scandinavian Singing Societies en route to Sioux Falls for the Northwest Sangerfest. About 150 voices, supported by soloists and an orchestra, perform for an expected 100 mile radius crowd. Tickets 75 cents. Parcel shower honors Miss Elvina Sorenson. wedding to Fred Sanborn today. John Warwell Sr. Injured After Fall at G N He Houses

John Warwell Sr. fell from a platform at the G N He houses on Monday and sustained a broken hip. He was admitted to Willmar hospital where doctors report him seriously injured but as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. Dr Harold Frost is attending and says the patient is as comfortable as can be expected.

Burbank Pioneer Mary Stauffer Dies After Illness

Mary Ellen Hudson Stauffer wife of pioneer John H. Stauffer of Burbank died Friday June 17 after a period of serious illness. Survived by Effie Pratt Lewiston Idaho Samuel H Stauffer Burbank Frank Sisseton S D Phoebe Baron Milaca and Elsie A brother Raleigh Hudson Seattle Wash funeral held in Burbank with Rev. Wedding in Ringville Convention a Success

A lengthy Ringville wedding at the home of Mr and Mrs John Stenergon celebrated the marriage of Selma Andria to Peter Olof Sonstegard at Crown River church on Saturday afternoon. Rev Tolo officiated as guests praised the couple and a large tented reception followed with 150 attendees. The couple will reside with the groom's mother.

Home from Colorado on a Visit

Albert N. Gilbertson, recent instructor at the state university of Colorado Boulder, arrived in Willmar for a few weeks stay at his home. He praised Colorado scenery and people, plans to depart mid next month for Europe by the Canadian route via Montreal and Quebec, with a brief stop in England before visiting relatives in Christiania, his ancestral home.

Willmar Student Plans European Study Trip After Graduation

A Willmar High School and Minnesota University graduate may study in Europe after a fall trip, including Oberammergau. Nick Hagen of Colfax township suffered a serious roof fall last Saturday but is recovering. Barbara Williams was elected president of the Willmar District C E Society during a meeting in Ortonville.

Golden Wedding Celebrated in Mamre Township

Mr and Mrs John P Carlson north of Pennock Mamre township marked their golden wedding anniversary with nearly all their children and many friends present A gold headed cane and a gold ring were given to the couple along with other gifts including 25 in gold coins The ceremony occurred at Adelés parsonage in Smaland on June 20 1860 they later moved to Mamre in 1884 and raised ten children now with 31 grandchildren and four great grandchildren Rev G Peterson spoke and a dinner was served The Carlson's life together began in 1860 and they came to America in 1883 1483 is a misprint The piece notes community and family guests plus other local visits from Ruby Olson and K C Axness families
