Willmar High School Alumni Banquet Recap

The Willmar High School alumni held their annual reunion at the alumni temple with about 100 attendees and 30 from out of town. A program featured remarks by the toastmaster Dr Alloys Branton, musical solos by Cora Osmundsen and a poem by Elmer Meterson, plus a business meeting electing officers Mihir Erickson president and Lallie Koieh vice president. The Episcopal church ladies provided a banquet, lauding the event as one of the best in years.

Spicer Village Plans Independence Day Celebration

The people of Spicer have event plans for an Independence Day celebration the following day since the fourth falls on Sunday. Attractions include the Willmar Rand in new uniforms with concerts in the afternoon and evening plus foot races tug of war and other numbers. Spicer will be a crowded place on the fifth.

Mildred Beacon of Cottonwood visited her aunt Mrs J J Barrett. Jack Wiggins returned from Minneapolis after attending State University. Louise Coolen and Amy Johnson visited friends in Litchfield. Mrs Ed Melvin and children arrived by car for a visit at James Hasett’s. Pearl Johnson left for Little Falls to visit sister Mrs V E Joslin.

Picnic and sports at Raymond Sunday

The Lone Tree Farmers Club hosts a picnic and short program at Rutherford's grove next Sunday. An afternoon baseball game between Priam and Raymond will be played. Other events are scheduled. Refreshments will be served on the grounds. Attendees should bring their filled lunch baskets.

Park Dedication Scene At Kandiyohi County Event

A grand Saturday June 26 1920 dedication of Sibley Park on Lake Andrew hosts the Kandiyohi County Old Settlers Association meeting. A full program features speeches by Senators and officials, a memorial address, a large picnic dinner, music by three bands, and a Dedication service. Politics are barred and attendees are urged to bring families and lunches for a day of outdoor celebration.

Solemn High Mass Opens with New Priest at St Marys Willmar

Last Sunday June 13 at St Marys Willmar a large crowd witnessed Rev Father P M Smith of Kansas City Mo celebrate his first Solemn High Mass. Deacon Rev T C Murray and subdeacon Rev T Gallagher preached and assisted. Choir directed by Miss June Murray praised Leonard Mass in F. Parishioners presented Rev Smith a purse. Fearful Tragedy at Sunburg Claims Mrs Gandrud

Mrs Chris Gandrud of Sunburg died from severe burns after an explosion in her Burns residence kitchen caused by kerosene ignition while lighting a fire. The 38 year old widow, mother of three, left behind her husband and many relatives. The funeral was held last Sunday.

Rainfall record at State Park and church meeting set

Heavy rainfall last night measured at the State Park with an inch plus in a short period. In June three inches of rain have fallen, an unusually high average for many years. Mission Ladies' Aid of the Missin church will meet at Chas Gustafson's farm four miles east of Wimar on June 2 from 2 to 6 pm. Mrs Gustafson will serve. Everybody welcome.
