Porter Elected City Attorney In Six to One Vote

The Elect Porter City Attorney report notes Samuel Porter won the position by 6 to 1 with one blank ballot. The council, long tied on the office, set a 50 dollar monthly salary and appointed Johnson Kent Erickson and Freeberg to the board of equalization, with Mayor Peterson chairing. They will meet June 27 to canvass the assessor’s returns.

Brick Plant Wins Major State Contract for 1,000,000 Bricks

Willmar Brick Co. secured a state hospital brick order of 1,000,000 bricks. plant runs at full capacity and will expand next year with an $8,000 upgrade. A steam drier will cut brick drying time to 24 hours from two to three weeks, and new Down Draft kilns plus tile production will be added to meet strong demand.

Pederson Salem Wedding In Far Go North Dakota

Miss Olga Pederson traveled to Far go North Dakota to witness the wedding of her brother William Pederson to Miss Marie Salem. Salem, formerly a trim mer at Iverson millinery, and William Pederson, son of P W Pederson of Eagle Lake, are to arrive home early next week and reside on the Pederson farm for now. The Tribune extends its congratulations.

Four 14 Year Old Burglars Detained After Train Larceny

Four youths aged fourteen were removed from train No. 9 by the city chief of police following Minneapolis police instructions. They face charges of larceny for breaking into a box car and stealing about $100 in fireworks. The youths, named Matasky, Zegland, Elms, and Kosisko, were taken to Minneapolis Sunday morning by two officers. Otis Sather returned to Minneapolis Saturday after a visit with his parents in this city. Mrs. Sather travels to Pennock and will return before joining her husband.

Old Settlers in Reunion Draw Wide Local Attendance

Rainy weather could not dampen the Old Settlers picnic at New London last Thursday with over 1000 attendees. Speakers included Senator Thorpe Jonas Monson and Dr Martin Olson amid a program honoring past members and urging agricultural education and resource conservation.

Scandinavian singers to entertain Willmar July 14

A Willmar meeting prepared for the Twin City Scandinavian singers concert on July 14. A reception at Carlson's hall at noon, luncheon, and an 8:30 pm program with rehearsals and a planned tour preceded by an effort to complete the Assembly grounds dining pavilion. A chorus for Norwegian day July 29 was also formed with weekly practices.
