Senator L. C. Thorpe of this city was elected president of the Mindegave Association, formed to raise a memorial gift to Norway for the Throndhjem cathedral restoration. The Minneapolis meeting saw 100 delegates from New York to the Red River. funds may reach 70 000 to 1 000 000 dollars, with presentation on May 17, 1914 and work to continue five years.

Marriage follows in Everett Washington area

News from Everett reports the marriage of Lewis Kanikkebarg, brother of Mrs. Martha Botnen of this city, to Miss Laura Amalia Finley. The ceremony occurred at the bride's home near Everett and the couple will reside on the groom's father's farm nearby. Ole Ostensoe and daughters Belinda and Alice arrived from Wisconsin. Ostensoe plans to move to his Montana claim while the daughters stay with Mrs. Martha Rothen and K. T. Rykken in Dovre for a time.

Mission Study Class Receives Hand Painted Gift

A Mission Study class of the C. E. society at the Presbyterian church meets weekly. The latest gathering was at the Presbyterian parsonage where William Hengstler was presented with a hand painted ace as a token of appreciation. Refreshments followed and attendees enjoyed a social time.

Woodmen Memorial Day Observed With Services and Graves Decorated

Woodmen Memorial Day observances began at the local hall with a march to Fairview cemetery to decorate grave sites. A deputation visited five other cemeteries east and south. Evening services at English M E church featured Rev Crawford Grays praising the order’s growth and death benefits. He highlighted the Woodmen Sanatorium at Colorado Springs funded by voluntary contributions and camp assessments for tuberculosis care.

Willmar High graduation closes term at opera house

The twenty seventh commencement of Willmar High School was held at the opera house Friday evening with relatives filling every seat. The stage crowd featured lilacs and evergreens and the class motto Non Palma Sine Labore. Students delivered well prepared essays and orations, and musical numbers delighted. Superintendent Tanning presented the class, and Russell Spicer conferred diplomas with practical advice. Most teachers depart for vacation. a handful will return while others take posts in Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, and beyond. The staff will largely remain unchanged. Also noted: Tallman receives ten packages of prize white dent corn seed from Great Northern Railroad for ten cars winning $5,200 in premiums at last year’s expositions. seeds to be tested at forthcoming shows. The corn planting report includes large seed purchases and plans for national exposition display.
