County Graduation Next Saturday At Spicer On Green Lake

County wide graduation exercises for rac ral schools set for Saturday at Spicer on Green Lake. If weather permits the pavilion will host the program otherwise M W A hall. Pupils bring lunch for a picnic at noon with exercises starting 1 30 pm. Speaker is J C Brown of St Cloud Normal School. Afterward townspeople entertain pupils. Pleasantly Surprised on Mrs Berg Birth Day Anniversary

Mr and Mrs J B Berg were pleasantly surprised at their Park Avenue home on a birthday anniversary. The afternoon featured a piano duet by Mrs G V Snicker and daughter Angeline followed by a four course luncheon. Mrs Berg received many useful gifts.

Swedish M E Ladies Aid Meeting Announcement

Swedish M E Ladies Aid Society will meet in church parlors Thursday June 14 with refreshments served by Mrs Ole Lund. A cordial welcome to all. Mrs 0 Gunderson and daughters Helen and Miss Sofia Tallakson arrived from Roseau for a visit with their parents. Miss Tallakson has taught school there the past two months.

Class Day Exercises Highlight Senior Program

The program opened with a piano duet by Hazel and Vernice Peterson. Misa Norine Hawkland read the class will and Miss Lorence Magnuson delivered the prophecy. Geraldine Haley played a piano solo as part of the program. The seniors joked about class conduct in a performance by the Normal department. John Dale, class president, thanked the faculty and presented a flag pole to stand between the high school and Central buildings. The class song was performed by a quartet including Walt Erickson, John Dale, Edna Sanderson and Adeline Ma.

Junior Commercial League Plans July Picnic

The Junior Commercial League held its regular meeting at Carlson Hall on Tuesday evening with fair attendance. Members approved a July first picnic at Big Kandiyohi Lake after routine business and refreshments.

Citizenship Papers Second Citizenship Filings Due

Petitions for second citizenship papers must be filed with the clerk of court this month to meet the ninety day requirement. Those already filed include Magnus Ness Charles Newberg Gust Fredolph Newberg and Lars Nelson Ostenso. Perfect in attendance at Lincoln School. The senior class picnic occurred last Friday at Mrs Minnie Larsen cottage on Green Lake Heach.

Pioneer Willmar merchant R Y Lewis Rodlun dies at 63

Lewis Rodlun a longtime Willmar businessman and pioneer resident died at home Sunday June 3 from anemia after a 18 month illness. Born Sept 11 1850 in Varmland Sweden he arrived in Willmar in 1871 and built Rodlin Johnson a general merchandise and clothing firm. He was a charter member of the United Workmen and Swedish Society and is survived by wife Cecelia and six children including Lawrence Esther Clifford Troy and Edward V.

Pioneer Peter Hanson dies at 85 in Lake Lillian

Obituary notes Peter Hanson of Lake Lillian Kandiyohi county aged 85 with Swedish roots. He married Karin Erickson in 1859 and emigrated to America in 1882 settling in Lake Lillian. Survived by son Hans Peterson four daughters and twenty eight grandchildren. two brothers survive. Funeral held at Swedish Independent Baptist church Willmar officiated by Rev G N Tegnell with pallbearers named.

Local Soldier Returns From Fort Snelling Visit

Roland J. DeLaHunt, an Officers Reserve Training Camp member at Fort Snelling, spent Saturday evening with his parents before returning on Sunday morning. In Atwater Decoration Day, Mrs. Latia Porter and the Porter family visited and a new monument honoring the late Solomon Porter was erected in the cemetery south of the village.

Dovre Mamre Ins Co Holds Annual Meeting In Willmar

The Dovre and Mamre Insurance Company held its annual meeting Monday in Willmar with President Jab mar Larson presiding. Minutes and auditor reports were read and approved, bylaws amended and ordered printed. Six directors were nominated with Bergquist and Pederson elected for three years. The annual statement showed cash on hand 335.45 and premiums 4 265.79. Many couples obtained licenses in May including Albert Rykken and Sigrid Gynild, John Gramhill and Anna Gramhill, and others.
