Odell Named Census Supervisor in Kandiyohi District

News confirms Charles W. Odell, cashier at First National Bank, appointed supervisor of the census for Minnesota’s Seventh district. He will oversee 44 enumerators, start organizing this fall, and project a district population over 200,000. Willmar club invites Judge Orr to speak on Juvenile Courts

The Commercial Club in Willmar voted to invite Judge Orr of St Paul to address a public meeting on the new Juvenile Court law statewide. A gas plant proposal was referred to the prospective industries committee for study. The good roads fund nears missing gravel costs and Feoat Lake park funds fall $90 short of the $1650 needed for city transfer and improvements. Members pledged support for city-benefit projects.

Former Willmar Lady Married in Kansas City

Miss Vaughn Crawford and Edwin Moline wed Thursday at two o clock in Kansas City with Judge Porter officiating. They returned to Willmar area, where Mrs. Moline is daughter of A C Crawford, recently clerk at Dunns store, and Mr. Moline a Minnesota native now bookkeeper for Franklin County Hardware. They will reside at 741 Oak Street.

Children Day Services At Presbyterian Church Next Sunday

Next Sunday in the Presbyterian church observes Children s Day with a 10 30 morning service for the Sunday school program featuring songs recitations and exercises by the Primary department. Parents are invited to bring babies to a reserved lecture room. No Sabbath school session follows. The Christian Endeavor meets at 645 pm led by Miss Barbara Williams on Life lessons from the Gospel of Luke. An evening sermon at 745 pm titled Childhood s Ministries will be delivered by the pastor if weather permits. A Sunday afternoon service in Priam chapel is planned by Rev H C Buell of Willmar.

Willmar Beats De Graff In Home Opener Thriller

Willmar defeated De Graff 11 to 0 in seven innings as Ossie Grangaard fueled the Blue Sox with three extra base hits and five runs. Glarum held De Graff steady after a rough second inning, Odell and Glarum adding key hits. Fans called for grandstand seating as Willmar bids for continued support after a 6-4 win over Kandiyohi and a road game at Dasen next Sunday.

The old Ole Barnstad building on Front Street will reopen as a Woolens and Cleaning shop run by J. J. Ekander east of the Merchants Hotel. New up-to-date woolens and cleaning repairs will be offered. Seminary commencement set for next Saturday with diplomas awarded in Teachers, Commercial, and Stenographers courses and students named. Mrs. W. B. Hanson hosted visiting cousin Miss Edna Peterson en route from Canby to Belgrade.

Willmar Street Fair to Feature New Attractions and Pony Circus

The Street Fair Association secured contracts with the St Paul Carnival Co and the Western Vaudeville Assn for four day events September 22 to 25 in Willmar. New attractions include monkey balloon ascensions and trapeze feats while Rice's Pony Dog and Monkey Circus performs twice daily. Liberal cash prizes will reward Kandiyohi county exhibits as Willmar seeks broader regional appeal. A minor textile fire near the Model Pantorium caused only a suit damage and was quickly contained.

Benson Attorney Suspended for Six Months by Supreme Court

John S. Davis of Benson and former Swift County attorney was suspended from practice for six months after the supreme court found his handling of client funds unjustified. He was known for the Monkey Farm liquor cases, which ended in his defeat by public shift toward enforcement. Governor Hill of Great Northern later traveled via Willmar on his way to the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific exposition in Seattle, meeting local officials and noting continued attention to agricultural interests.
