Willmar Man Marries Dawson Bride In Church Nuptials

Lyder Berg, a Willmar man employed in the W. T. Markhus office, wed Miss Suale Larson at the Trinity Lutheran church in Dawson. The ceremony at four o clock was officiated by Rev. Rondestvedt with many friends present. The couple, who arrived Monday, will reside in the First ward and begin housekeeping.

Green Lake Summer Cottage Boom At Willmar Lake

Lake's Summer Population, Mrs. C Neuberger and family are among the Willmarites who will occupy new cottages at Green Lake this season. A K Omile erected the Neuberger cottage now nearing completion on Green Lake Beach. A new cottage at Stony Point by Mesars Smith and Westin of Minneapolis is 40 feet square costing 1500 dollars. Swengon of Minneapolis will build nearby as will relatives of the Nordin family. More cottages under construction as lake population rises.

Second Heir Reported at Benson Family Home

A Benson Times item notes the second heir of Sam's Fargo family visiting the home Friday, with the mother in delicate health and cigars made by Sam's Fargo. E R Calking resigns as express office employee to resume duties as express messenger on the Garreton Yankton line. Oscar Elmquist joins the Great Northern express office force after assisting at his father's jewelry store.

Gold Medal Contest Atwater Willmar Delegation Expected

Atwater hosts a gold medal contest next Tuesday evening at the town hall with eight speakers including Kautson of the city and Gilbertson who cannot participate due to presalog duties. Willmar is entitled to two speakers. the event features music and admission is 15 cents with 10 cents for under sixteen. The W T U convention runs alongside with sessions at the Presbyterian church and a speech by Mrs Scovell. Delegates from surrounding counties are expected. all are welcome.

Ditching Plans Advance In East Lake Lillian Township

East Lake Lillian residents back a self financed ditching program using a mammoth machine from New Auburn Minnesota to drain fields along roads. Anderson Gobnitz reports widespread ditching contracts, no petitions, and each property owner paying for their own ditch. Hanley Falls loses to Edwards Wood Co in a Monday ball game with Coons curves and errors shaping the result. A next game at Spicer promises a tougher challenge with Booth pitching. Eighth Grade Closing Exercises at Willmar Opera House

Eighth grade pupils of Willmar public schools hold graduation at the opera house Thursday evening. Admission is 10 cents to defray expenses. Miss Anderson leads the program with declamations, duets, and speeches by nine girls. The following night a high school commencement occurs with the same admission rule. Will Join the Benedicts in Kandiyohi Marriage

John E. Olson of Erickson & Co. plans to wed Hulda Jenson on Wednesday June 8 at 3 p.m. in Kandiyohi, with about fifty invitations issued. Hulda was a former resident of Kandiyohi and recently of Minneapolis, while Olson remains a flour and feed merchant. Also noted: Miss Bauer sisters plan to move to Wheaton and teach there, and J L Henscom appointed as rural route carrier with Chas Hanscom as substitute.

Seminary Commencement Honors Largest Class at Seminary Hall

The graduating class of 04 at the Seminary holds exercises Monday evening in Seminary Hall. The Tuvi class is the largest ever, with the new Shorthand and Typewriting department leading with 12 graduates under Mies Syse. The Teachers' course follows with nine and the Commercial department with seven. Names by department include Ludvig Dale and Emelia V. Arneson among others, with a detailed program of readings, sermons, and music. The event features a substantial display of class colors, flowers, maize and gold booting in the decorations.

May Hive of Ladies of the Maccabees In Odd Fellows

The revived May Hive of Ladies of the Maccabees organized at Bonde hall with Deputies Pennar and Moore from Minneapolis guiding the reorganization. Charter membership stands at 22 with meetings scheduled bi monthly at Odd Fellows hall on the second and fourth Wednesdays. Officers installed include Mrs Parkins as past commander Mrs Kent as commander Mrs Ferguson as lieutenant commander and others occupying key posts such as record keeper finance keeper chaplain sergeant master at arms and pianist.

Tourist in Trouble in Atwater County Jail

A tourist using the name Charlen occupied the county jail most of last week after being arrested in Atwater for petit larceny at a hardware store. Judge Walen convicted him and ordered a ten dollar fine plus costs or five days in jail. Deputy Malmberg brought him in Tuesday night for five days lodging. Johnson prosecuted. The AOU W Lodge plans a large initiation June 9 with Grand Lodge officers present. G. Covell of Benson aided the membership drive, credited with boosting recent gains. Mrs Huffman of Breckenridge visited Willmar relatives this past week.

Passes barred after Aug 15 for railway workers to St Louis fair

The St Louis fair will limit travel after August 15 for railway employees unless they pay their fare. An ironclad agreement by all lines prohibits post date passes. Roads serving St Louis notify workers they must vacation before August 15. Annual pass holders may travel anytime.

Swedish Language Meets at Eagle Lake Church

Lutheran Bethel Church hosts a revival reply to Moorhead call. Young people meet with program of music recitations and a paper on The Early Swedish Settlement at Eagle Lake by V E Lawson. Memorial Day Honors For Local Soldier Dead

Honor of a soldier dead seen in Willmar on Memorial Day with Stars and Stripes on buildings and business houses. Col Hey Post G A R formed a morning parade, veterans in blue led the silent procession to cemeteries. Thirteen veterans arrived later. two churches hosted services with Rev Gates delivering a patriotic sermon.

New Swedish American College Planned in Twin Cities

A Swedish Lutheran Minnesota Conference committee met at St Pauls Lutheran church in Minneapolis to form an institution for Swedish American learning. The group elected Rev Stone as chairman, Dr Petri as vice chairman, Victor Lawson secretary, and Dr Carlson treasurer. They organized to incorporate, set temporary quarters, and launch an academic department in the fall. A financial agent was chosen, and a later meeting will finalize reports and the school name. The effort aims to foster Swedish American culture in the Northwest.

Willmar Gun Club Holds Seventh Annual Tournament

The Willmar Gun Club announces its seventh annual tournament scheduled for June 10 and 11. Officers include J. C. Freese as president D. N. Tallman vice president B. F. Miller secretary and Robert Otterness treasurer. Grounds lie north of the ball park. Local shooters anticipate two lively days of competition with entrants from outside points.

Tragedy at Donnelly Ends in Double Self Destruction

Meta Mahn a former Merchants Hotel worker at Donnelly shot Ray Harrison of Davie Harrison general merchandise firm in Morris then killed herself. Reports state she had recently returned to Donnelly after two years away and had mentioned carrying a gun for Harrison. Harrison shot and wounded, facing uncertain recovery. Mahn’s motive unclear. Also mentions a baseball benefit dance prize and attendance.
