Succumbs to sun stroke on Handy farm near village

John Carlquist, 26, a laborer on Peter Hallbom's Handy farm northwest of the village, died after heat exhaustion and sun stroke. Heatwave had forced a halt to work. he reportedly drank cold water, suffered convulsions, and died at noon. Funeral held Sunday at Tripolia with Rev. Lindholm officiating. Widow and two children left in straitened circumstances as the community offers sympathy.

Fugitives Captured in Montana Horse Theft Murder Case

Frank and Elmer Nelson, two youths linked to horse stealing and murder, were captured near Willmar and returned to Glasgow, Montana. Sheriff Griffith and deputies pursued after a long chase. two horses and a saddle were recovered. Elmer, about 20, is suspected of killing Drabbs, whose body was found with bullet holes on prairie. The Nelson family’s history is noted, with the father a Soldiers’ Home inmate.

Jasper area work accident leaves man with injuries

George Martin, employed on the Sioux Falls line as Ledger wood engineering, survived an accident near Jasper after his clothes were torn and he suffered bruises and severe distress. Rescue arrived after coworkers stopped the machine, and he will be laid off temporarily while healing before returning home to Spicer via Willmar.

Van Dyke and Lampman Married in Minneapolis

Carl C. Van Dyke and Myrtle Lampman were wed yesterday in Minneapolis. The couple will reside in Willmar where Van Dyke has a brakeman position on the Great Northern. The Alexandria Citizen extends hearty congratulations.

Side-door Pullman Incident Delays Porter in Railway Tale

A leeplog car porter on train No 9, passing Monday night, tried to deter hoboes beating their way through. They seized the chance to detain him after the train departed, forcing him to stay over until the next morning’s freight. Spectators found the episode amusing but the porter faced hardship.

Lightning claims Kandiyohi youth in Miles City tragedy

Pa trick Tierney 27 of Kandiyohi was killed by lightning on December 12 in Miles City Montana. The body was buried in Montana after the delay in learning of his death. Meanwhile local sports news announces seven game series between Litchfield and Willmar at Athletic Park with plans for a possible Willmar rail trip to showcase Kandiyohi as an agricultural county and promote regional baseball.

London L E Hearn of Willmar did business here Saturday. Mrs H J Ramsett and children from Willmar visit relatives. Mr and Mrs Ole Larson of Spicer lost their baby. The Larsons visited Mrs Larson’s relatives. M D Manning G C Haines and S B Qvale of Willmar toured the county as state land appraisers. Mrs B F Miller of Willmar and Mrs Sam Anderson of Spicer visited the Andersons. Mrs Carrie Geer reportedly sells her farm in eastern Baraboo. Death of Rev Andrew Jackson of Rush Polow Mina at Bethesda Hospital St Paul. He aided pioneer settlers during the Indian outbreak. He was preaching at West Lake during the massacre. Mrs Britta Dahlberg of Colfax died July 20 aged 96 years 6 days born 181 in Jerfas Sweden. She came to America 30 years ago with Erick Dahlberg Sr. They settled on a Colfax homestead. Her husband died 7 years ago. Survivors include son Rick of Colfax and daughter Mrs Christine Berrows of Herman Minnesota. Funeral held last Monday afternoon. Miss Cells Grimes of Willmar spent a few days here visiting Mrs J E Cooling.
