Succumbs to sun stroke on Handy farm near village
John Carlquist, 26, a laborer on Peter Hallbom's Handy farm northwest of the village, died after heat exhaustion and sun stroke. Heatwave had forced a halt to work. he reportedly drank cold water, suffered convulsions, and died at noon. Funeral held Sunday at Tripolia with Rev. Lindholm officiating. Widow and two children left in straitened circumstances as the community offers sympathy.

Fugitives Captured in Montana Horse Theft Murder Case
Frank and Elmer Nelson, two youths linked to horse stealing and murder, were captured near Willmar and returned to Glasgow, Montana. Jasper area work accident leaves man with injuries
George Martin, employed on the Sioux Falls line as Ledger wood engineering, survived an accident near Jasper after his clothes were torn and he suffered bruises and severe distress. Rescue arrived after coworkers stopped the machine, and he will be laid off temporarily while healing before returning home to Spicer via Willmar.
