Willmar seeks new Bonde Block to expand Johnson Maline line

A forthcoming addition to Willmar's Bonde Block will create a 25 by 65 foot ground floor and 25 by 15 foot upper floor building adjoining the old structure. Johnson Maline Co plans groceries crockery on the lower level and dry goods clothing on the second. The project, costing around 85000, includes a central balcony display area and south facing plate glass windows. The Westberg building will extend to connect the two, forming a continuous block.

Jobo Ekander Ill in Minneapolis with Typhoid Fever

A message reported Jobo Ekander dangerously ill in Minneapolis with typhoid fever last Thursday. Conditions improved later and fear subsided. A letter yesterday said he was much improved, much welcomed by Willmar friends. John had returned to Minneapolis from Willmar only Wednesday and fell ill the same evening.

Witness Changes Mind Dismisses City Case Against Emerson

The city case against Ike Emerson was dismissed after a prosecuting witness, who initially testified he bought liquor from Emerson, changed his stance. A second city case against Emerson was adjourned for a week and set to be tried Friday at 9 a.m. in Atwater. In Willmar, Han(e) Johnson, agent for Hamm Brewing Co., observed how the red front saloon run by P. H. O'Brien operated. The license had been transferred a week earlier. Martin Olson, previously dealer in Thief River Falls, came to town for a visit, then sold his store stake with no definite future plan. Mrs. Thomas Olson is visiting her mother, Mrs. Samuel Stoner, at Lakota, N. D. Stoner, once a Willmar resident, leased the widow’s property in Kandiyohi Co.

Crop Prospects Dented by Rust and Pests In Meeker County

Harvest outlook dims as rust infests wheat heads delaying full crop. Chinch bug damage reported from Atwater north through Harrison and Irving in Meeker County. Barley harvests indicate good yields while corn promises strong results. City council acts on Augusta avenue improvements and first street, appointing commissioners to view damages and costs. Christian Endeavor Service At Presbyterian Church

The Christian Endeavor Society will lead the evening service at the Presbyterian church next Sunday. Miss Grace L Andrus will lead with a program including song service, a lesson, prayers and a series of Hindrance themes illustrated by notable lives such as David Livingstone Booker T. Washington and Helen Keller. A benediction will close the program. Nels Anderson Stauberg, recovering from a leg fracture, is out of danger after a hay-riding accident. Sunby Ordained Minister Receives Amherst Call

Called to Wisconsin minister Sunby of Manitowoc was ordained on the first Sunday and has accepted a call from Amherst. He has many relatives in the city who wish him success in his chosen work. Albert Hegatrom and wife left Svea for New London to visit. Hegstrom will move to Willmar to teach at the Seminary in late August or early September.

Mr and Mrs Oscar Bergman of Chicago spent a brief visit last week with E Sjodin and family. Bergman is a member of the Iduna chorus of Chicago and had attended the Banger fest in Minneapolis.

In chambers before Judge Qvale and Powers since yesterday, the case for partition of real property in Harrison proceeds. Referees Moord Swan Pagel report on partition and their findings, with objections and testimony ongoing to determine accuracy. Three Men Remembered for Mail Fraud in Mutual Hail Case

In Fargo North Dakota July 24 three men Miller Gilder and Randall were convicted last month of using the mails for unlawful purposes tied to the Mutual Hail Insurance company of Hankinson. Judge Amidon sentenced Miller and Gilder to one year and a day in Sioux Falls prison and Randall to eight months in Jamestown county jail with $1000 fines for each. Appeals announced. bonds set at 7500 for Miller and Gilder and 3000 for Randall. Miller formerly of the Twin Cities Gilder a Lidgerwood real estate man and Randall a Kensal banker.

Veteran Minister Rev H Stub Visits City From Sacred Heart

A veteran minister Rev H Stub of Sacred Heart is visiting friends in this city and surrounding area. He is noted as the oldest Norwegian minister of the Synod church now living and received the order of St Olaf at the Synod Jubilee from King Oscar of Sweden and Norway. Despite his age he remains healthy and active in church work.

Willmar Buttermaker Resigns for Danvers Creamery

A longtime employee of Willmar Cold Storage Co. will leave Friday to become foreman at the Danvers Creamery Association. He declined offers from Minneapolis Cold Storage Co. and Aberdeen 8. D. to stay nearer home. The Will Most School Board plans Aug 1 organization as required by law. Also noted is the death of Mrs. M. J. Bond of Homer City Iowa, and Mrs. J. T. Lindderle is reported ill with pneumonia.

Death and past connections of David Pallado in Midwest notes

A late June death is reported for David Pallado at Minneapolis Hospital. Pallado, a quarter-blood Indian educated at the Wisconsin school, had a scattered history including Willmar visits, Fargo railroad work, and prior Willmar connections. His 25 years and a brother in Wisconsin are noted as context alongside local social notices.
