Reverend Paul Hallin Leaves Willmar This Week

The Swedish Methodist pastor Reverend Paul Hallin resigns after years of service in Willmar. A farewell reception was held with speeches from church representatives and friends. The Hallin family plans to move to Michigan for new pastoral work as preparations for departure proceed.

Wilintae Band Impresses Dual Audiences In July Concert

The Wilintae Band performed a two audience concert last Friday delivering a strong show. The 46 piece ensemble wore new uniforms, featured guest soloists Prof. Dr. W Buland and accompanist, and earned high praise for their performances. The event helped fund new uniforms and showcased steady progress under Director Hobbie pleband. The paper also notes multiple local weddings and marriage licenses announced in the same issue.

Car Tumbles Off 20-Foot Embankment on Solomon Lake Road

Harry Dalien and Floyd Politka escaped serious injury after their car, an Eb...sig six, ran off a 20 foot embankment on Solomon Lake road. Blinded by oncoming lights, Dalien could not see the road and the vehicle rolled twice. Dalien suffered a right side hurt. Politka had bruised skin and both occupants remained in the car during the tumble. The car’s top and windshield were crushed and the other vehicle did not stop.

Willmar base ball group adopts articles of incorporation

The Willmar Base Ball Association met last Monday evening and adopted articles of incorporation. Shares total over five thousand dollars, with David Veterson of the Magnet Inn the top seller at about 40 percent of stock. Also notes a wedding at Lake Lillian July 24 between Clarence C. Peterson and Alice Solomonson. The groom is an assistant cashier at Atwater’s Farmers State Bank. bride employed with Drs Porter in Atwater. About 35 guests attended and they plan to reside in Atwater after September 1.

Mrs Peter Strandberg Dies At Home In Fahlun

Mrs. Julia Sorenson Strandberg born December 25 1876 in Renville died at her Fahlun home last Monday May 25 1920 after over a year bedridden. She married Peter Strandberg September 20 1914 and is mourned by five stepchildren and relatives including Ole Sorenson Andrew Anderson Rasmus Peterson Alfred Strandberg and Arthur Sorenson. Funeral at Svea Lutheran church conducted by Rev J B Sorenson. Pallbearers included Lewis Strandberg Andrew Strandberg Gust Hanson John Ochs Henry Bjelken Bren and Ed Nelson.

Big Doings At Sunburg Norse Fest Draws Two Thousand

About two thousand people attended the Sons of Norway gathering at Sunburg last Sunday. Delegations came from Willmar Benson Glenwood Starbuck and Sunburg. A J Syse presided with speeches by Senator Gandrud and Judge I O Gilbert. Music by Sunburg Band and duets by Mong Hauge and John Nyborg highlighted the day. The next gathering will be in Benson.

The Willmar Public Library presents the annual report of librarian Mian Amy Hanscom. Key figures include 4,789 books, 2,418 active borrower cards, 50 country cards, 28,776 total circulations, and 36 hours weekly open. Periodicals total 42 with 4 newspapers. Farmers pull off surprise for Willmar Bank cashier

Nels S. Swenson cashier of the Willmar Bank was invited to the Ed Lundquist farm at Lake Wagonga Sunday afternoon. A large crowd gathered as Jonas Monson led cheers and presented him with a purse of 153 dollars in his honor. The event featured a bountiful spread of ice cream cats cigars and laughter.

The Willmar baseball team travels to Benson for a Sunday game at 3 o clock. Willmar aims to repeat last Sunday’s one up and hopes for a homecoming victory. A season opener on Willmar’s grounds is anticipated a week later.
