Mrs. M Mehalsick and baby left Friday for Pipestone for a short visit. Consolidation Urged by Minnesota Leaders at Willmar Meeting

Governor Eberhardt and State Superintendent Schulz visited Willmar summer school for teachers last Monday to urge consolidation of rural districts. Schulz praised the rural schools and Minnesota’s strong funding while noting 330,000 rural pupils, 125,000 in high schools, and 6,000 at the state university. They cited 1,800 consolidated districts across 32 states with no dissolutions after benefits prove themselves, and argued central schools offer transportation, domestic science, manual training, agriculture, and a social center to attract rural youth to farm life.

Willmar Hosts Governor and Local Officials Community Talk

The Governor urged teachers to promote country schools while Linden sang a couple of selections. Director J. H. Hay praised Willmar as a honest, prosperous city for its size after a five week stay, expressing favorable impressions of the people and city.

Willmar to host Colored Keystones in fast game

Tomorrow afternoon 4 PM the Colored Keystones of Minneapolis, touring the Northwest, meet Willmar’s royal team. The darkies are a fast aggregation and a warm game is promised. Local support has been poor all summer, but the team has played well. Public turnout urged.

New Law Requires Trade Name Partners to File Certificates

A new 1911 statute requires firms using trade names to list full names of all partners with the county clerk and file a new certificate for ownership changes. The law, effective July 19, excludes corporations and certain partnerships. Several local firms filed timely certificates last week including Skoog & Anderson and Carlson Bros.

Ludvig Dale Goes Abroad on European Trip

Ludvig Dale former city editor of the Tribune now with the Pioneer Press of St Paul and Boy Scout organizer for the Northwest has recovered from ptomaine poisoning. He visits Willmar before a three months Europe trip taking a leave of absence to stay a month with his family in Norway and attend the University of Christiana centennial celebration then tour Sweden and other European countries gathering material for his paper.

Hew Stam Threshers Sold in Willmar Area

Charley Wallin, Willmar agent, reports multiple Hew Stam threshing rigs and separators sold locally. Three complete rigs and two separators unloaded in weeks, with engines of 25 horsepower. Purchasers include Harold and Albert Rustad, Axel Gustafson, Axel Lundquist, J J Bjork, and H anderson Lobnitz. Misses Amy Fridland, Minnie Fridland, Alice Englund, and Elsie Hoglund attended Luther League convention in Litchfield.

Silver Wedding at Sunbury Jubilant 25th Anniversary

Despite drizzling rain, many friends gathered at Sunbury to honor Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Storuker on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Rev. Sotendehl delivered a "Mindesten" and twenty-five silver dollars as a congratulatory design, followed by general good wishes and a pleasant gathering.

Italian Laborer Injured in Rail Yard Accident

An Italian laborer Clem ente Casorio working in local railroad yards fell from a car last Friday morning and was knocked unconscious as nearby cars bumped into the vessel. He was taken to Bethesda hospital where he regained consciousness and stayed under care until Sunday. A circulating tale that he feigned injury is unfounded. the doctor prepared for surgery but Casorio stood up and left. He was severely hurt and unconscious for several hours.

Ruth Collin Dead in Kandiyohi County

Death notice from New London area reports Ruth Collin ten year old daughter of Rev. C. J. Collin of Sand Lake died of heart disease on Sunday July 23. Mr and Mrs J P Bredberg traveled to Minneapolis and Minnetonka for a visit with their daughter Mrs M H Car.

Fatal auto accident near Green Lake claims Mrs Carlson

Mrs Anne Mathilda Carlson wife of C W Carlson of Carpenter South Dakota was killed in an automobile accident last Wednesday evening near George and Henderson lakes two and a half miles west of Spicer. The car went off a steep embankment after a gear shift failed pinning Mrs Carlson and her husband inside. Medical aid arrived but Mrs Carlson died at the scene. Coroner Branton ordered an inquest with jurors sworn in at the Peterson undertaking rooms to hear the evidence at the scene and in Willmar.
