Elmond Nelson, son of Mrs. Victor Nelson of this city and brother of Misses Hazel and Eilel Nelson, was wounded in action in France on June 6. The casualty, not reported by wire, reached the family indirectly via a Willmar layrlephone and a letter from a comrade describing the incident and correspondence from Esmond and his corporal detailing how it happened.

Young man crushed under gravel slide in New London
Henry Minga, 16, was seriously injured Friday when a slide of loose gravel trapped him while prying it loose at the New London site. He was treated at Willmar Hospital where doctors reported crushed heat and abdomen and a dislocated hip, with improving condition expected to allow discharge soon.

The Standard Oil Company's new gasoline filling station on the old Glarum corner at Third Street and Litchfeld Avenue is finished and opened. Built by J. J. Olsen & Co. for about $6,500, the station includes a filling pavilion and office with stucco finish and modern design. Ruth Helen Forsberg, daughter of A. O. and Mrs Forsberg, died of heart failure after scarlet fever illness. Born Nov 27 1903 in Willmar she recently started high school but illness forced her to quit. Survived by parents and siblings Ralph Irving Robert Vernon Leonard Edith Myrtle Ethel. Funeral held at St Luke's church with Rev Ochler officiating. Pallbearers included Clarence Reed Alvin Nordstrom George and Oscar Brogren. Interment at Fairview.
