Obituaries Return From St Johns: Thora Elkjer Passes at 29
Last Thursday July 18 Miss Thora Elkjer daughter of John P Elkjer of St Johns township died at her parental home after a week long illness with brain fever. She was born September 2 1891 and would have turned 21. A teacher and active Lutheran member she is survived by father stepmother five brothers two sisters and other relatives. The funeral was held at St Johns church with Rev M B Michaelson officiating and a large crowd. The service included readings from Revelations and tributes to her life work.

Fireman Loses Both Legs After Train Incident
Grover Krumsick a 24 year old fireman on the Willmar and Sioux Falls line was run over by train 401 while off duty and attempting to ride home. He slipped on a greasy wheel box and was dragged beneath the car, resulting in the amputation of both legs. He was taken to Bethesda Hospital and is reported as recovering as expected. Family and relatives gathered from Minneapolis and Willmar to support him. The Nameless Willmar Tax League held a meeting, appointing a new committee and discussing school board candidates Erick Holt and C R Berkness. A resolution favored economy in school affairs and limiting the agricultural department. The Lutheran parochial school picnic was planned at Homewood Park with a program for children, weather permitting. Harry Strandberg and family and B E Lawson visited Ludvig Frederickson’s home at Frank Lake, Swift County, while Mrs Lawson and her mother visited friends in the area.
