Willmar Auto Boom Has 67000 Invested In Cars

Willmar now shows 45 automobiles valued at about 67000 marking a net gain of 13 cars from last year. Gasoline costs about 460 monthly and oil and repairs bring total monthly auto expenses to roughly 1360, while 12 Buicks lead the fleet with Ford and other makes following. The town lists owners and prices for dozens of vehicles as Rev Berg plans to move the Monongalia steamer to Foot Lake and ministers prepare for a regional summer school.

Planning Boys Cadet Corps for Willmar Street Fair

Willmar plans a September street fair feature with two companies of boys aged 12 to 15 in drill parades. They will train under University Corps instructors, wear uniforms, and use dummy guns. Enlistment is first come, first served, with meetings at Bondy Hall next Monday at 8 PM. Parents encouraged to attend.

Farewell Social Held for Capt. Morris

A farewell social last evening honored Capt. Morris who has led the Salvation Army work in the city since May 1908. Rev. Oberg Buell and Sullivan participated, with music by the Baptist choir and a Presbyterian quartet. Proceeds totaled about $20 as Morris departs next Wednesday for new duties. successor not announced.

Real estate deal lands 120 acre farm near Willmar

A. N. Brown cites a 120 acre farm near Willmar for A. R. Wilson of Stanbury Missouri. Wilson toured several places on his journey, found the county favorable, and after a week’s trip decided to invest land near the city. He plans to move up here next spring.

Willmar Willmar annual school meeting reelects N O Nelson and Sand

At the Willmar district annual meeting last Saturday evening N O Nelson was re elected to the board without opposition and Gilbert C Sand to fill Crawford's seat. There were nineteen votes. Treasurer reports a cash balance of 6052.22. Receipts total 29114.47 and include state aid and tax settlements. Disbursements total 29114.47 including wages, piano fund, heating plant, and other expenses. Dreamland program listed for Thursday and Friday with titles such as A Wartime Sweetheart and Bohemian Girl.

New Swedish Baptist Church Cornerstone Laid

Weather drew a large crowd Sunday for the cornerstone laying of the new Swedish Baptist church. Speakers included Rev. Frank Peterson and Rev. Anton Nelson with others from the Salvation Army and Baptist missions. The ceremony inserted many religious and organizational artifacts into the cornerstone. Construction advances rapidly with completion hoped for by October.
