Cooperative Store to Invoice Stock and Transfer to New Firm

Co operative merchants of Willmar begin invoicing stock tomorrow as they transfer ownership to Willmar Co Operative Mercantile Company. The new firm unites about 180 farmers and locals with share subscriptions from 100 and up, organized under the Right Relationship League. Officers include A J Abbott president, Chas Isaacson vice president, John Sandin secretary, Tobias Rasmusson treasurer, and B A Larson director. E Benson tentatively chosen as manager. A series of meetings in Willmar will feature Mr Everett from Des Moines with talks and a Green Lake outing, as Willmar Commercial Club members are invited to attend.

Election Next Tuesday A Sewer Bond Vote Remade

The city updates amended sewer plans adding new extensions on Trott Avenue Charlotte Street Becker Avenue Anthony Street Litchfield Bernard Gorton and Nelson Avenues to serve more residents. The bond election to authorize the system occurs next Tuesday after a prior April vote of 329 to 106 was voided by technical errors. A public meeting with Prof Frederic Bass is set at Carlson's Hall next Friday at 8 p.m. to discuss practicability and answer questions.

Local visitors and returning residents enjoy short visits

Miss Hannah Hoadestad returned to Norway Lake last Thursday after a week with friends in the city. Mrs. Chas. Larson and children came back to St. Paul on Monday after a brief stay with the Nygard family. Mrs. G. W. Blackwood of Spencer, North Dakota visited friends in town on Tuesday and left Wednesday to visit her parents at Antler, North Dakota.

Nelson Dies While Swimming at Harriet Island

Lawrence Nelson aged 22 of Willmar Minnesota died after a fall into the river while swimming at Harriet Island in St Paul. He did not resurface after his first dive and attempts at revival failed. Coroner to determine cause. initial remarks suggest possible heart failure or injury from impact with cold water. He leaves parents and several siblings and the funeral will be held at the Swedish Lutheran church with Rev. G Peterson officiating.

Odland to Lecture Trusting Orthodox Faith in Norway

Dr Sigurd Odland of Christiana’s new theological school will deliver lectures at Augsburg Seminary Aug 30 to Sept 6 for the Norwegian Lutheran Free church summer school. He will preach at Willmar Free church on Sunday July 30. Odland left University of Christiana amid Bible criticism to found an independent orthodox school. Miss Josephine Rodlin of Portland, Oregon, visited Willmar and stayed with the Peter Skoglund home last Friday and Saturday.

Plucky Scouts in Rain on Long Hike to Green Lake

A Granite Falls troop of fourteen boy scouts led by scout master Tolley Hartwick and assistant Marion Hartwick trudged through rain and mud to Green Lake for a camping trip. They traveled from Granite to Raymond and Willmar, dried out in a store, then camped at Eagle Lake with gear pulled in a buck-board. Mrs. G. J. Bratberg and daughter Alma of Long Lake visited Willmar friends this past week.

Street Fair Contest Offers Maxwell and Piano as Prizes

A fine Maxwell run about and a Hinze upright piano will be awarded to successful contestants in the Street Fair fundraiser. The ante is on display at Lars Halverson's garage and the piano through Andrew Peterson's Furniture Store. Ballot boxes appear at local drug stores this week. voters buy ballots for one penny, write a name, and drop the ballot in the box. Proceeds fund features for the Willmar Street Fair set for September 13 to 16. The contest is open to anyone in Kandiyohi County.

Easton Urges Greater Public Health Fight Against Tuberculosis

Christopher Easton, executive secretary of the State Association for the Prevention and Relief of Tuberculosis, urged stronger state and local authority and funding at a summer school talk. He argued health and longevity are community assets, and that prevention requires housing, sanitation, and disease control, with hospitals for advanced TB cases and school-based latent infection attention.

Governor Eberhardt to Speak at Willmar Summer School

Governor A. O. Eberhardt and State Superintendent C. G. Schulz will address the Teachers' Summer School at Willmar next Wednesday afternoon, July 26, on educational topics. County Supt. W. D. Surprise visit honors ill Carl Berglund at Mamrelund

After Sunday services Rev Peterson and his congregation surprised Carl Berglund at his Pennock home. He recently returned from the Twin Cities hospital and received about 75 dollars in support from friends. A lawn supper followed. Berglund plans a trip to Hot Springs, South Dakota for medical aid. FW Schmidt retires from Ideal Bakery. Fred Kasten becomes sole proprietor.

Track Man Meets Death in Railway Accident

Nels Olson Ekberg a section hand from First Ward was fatally injured on a Friday morning near the Division Superintendent's office when a switch engine moved cars as No 14 coast train passed. He died at Bethesda Hospital after spoken to by his wife. Born March 13 1863 in Sweden he came to America in 1892 settling in Willmar with four children from his first marriage. Funeral services were held at the Salvation Army Hall conducted by Capt. Olson with interment at Fairview.

DROWNED IN LAKE MINNETONKA AT MOUND

Fred Bjor fifty five drowned while bathing with two friends at Lake Minnetonka in Mound. Adolph Anderson and Andrew Anderson tried to rescue him but weeds entangled his feet. Body recovered and taken to the morgue. Bjor was a quarryman living with his brother at 1018 Central Avenue.
