The Tribune reports new census bulletins from Secretary of State Hassan and local census superintendent showing Kandiyohi county up 982 in population in five years, with Willmar city at 418. Telegraphers on the Great Northern and Northern Pacific roads prepare for a possible strike with orders to lock keys and cover train orders. Despite ongoing talks between union leaders and managers, station agents have been instructed to halt train movements at a moment’s notice. The report also notes local school district financials and a death in St Paul, plus other small items from Willmar.
George W. Sanderson and Mise Isa belle Downs wed at ten this morning at the groom’s parents’ home in Kandiyohi. Rev. Father Malloy officiated with a small ceremony, witnessed by close relatives. The couple plans immediate housekeeping in the village.

Mrs G O Sand suffered a severe scald on her left forearm while at work when a glass cover burst and hot preserves spilled. Immediate home treatment eased the burn, with slow healing reported. A Presbyterian Sunday school picnic for 25 attendees and about 30 children took place in Eagle Lake woods after church services led by Rev. and Mr. Scotion. Population figures for Litchfield show a rise from 2,250 five years ago to over 2,400 now.
Sunday east bound flyer struck a freight train at Grove City about 7 AM. August Danielson of Litchfield was injured jumping from his engine. Three freight cars derailed. one carried threshing machines. The engine suffered minor damage. Track reopened by 3 PM delaying the Minneapolis passenger by about three and a half hours.

Cards announce the marriage of Isabella Downs of Green Lake to George Sanderson on Wednesday July 19. Swift County Pioneer Frank M Thurston of Benson died at Frost hospital Saturday evening, cause diabetes and gangrene, with leg amputation weeks earlier. Interment in Lakewood Cemetery Minneapolis. survived by wife and eight children. Thornton was a Benson business leader and longtime Minnesota resident. He served in the Sixth Minnesota during Sibley’s era and rose to major in the Eighteenth U. S. Infantry before returning to Benson.
A gigantic ditcher under construction at P E Parsons blacksmith shop on Third street will cut 10 feet wide on top 4 feet deep and 2 feet wide at the bottom. Weighing about 30 tons it requires 24 horsepower to operate. Designed by G C Greene and built with E P Parmeter as chief assistant. Work started June 24 and is to be ready about parapta. Estimated cost 30000 plus horses and expenses total at least 6000. Drainage meeting in Crookston August first marks the Minnesota Drainage League’s first annual gathering at city hall.
