A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Liedberg. July meetings host county commissioners and Board of Equalization. Several residents travel to Duluth and Kerkhoven for land, visits, or church events. School, church, and civic notices, plus social news, fill the week’s Local and Personal items.
The Little Hespera members of the Swedish Baptist church invite all to a church lawn ice cream social next Tuesday evening July 18. An opening program starts at 8 o'clock, followed by refreshments. A cordial invitation to attend and be refreshed. Also note the annual school meet scheduled for Saturday evening this week.
The jury in Kandiyohi County found A O Bryant, a Merchants hotel proprietor, guilty of selling whiskey without a license. The trial featured conflicting testimony, with detectives Yale and Bonde testifying about a bar room scene, while Bryant denied any whiskey sales. Prosecutor Oitersasa praised his decisive presentation, and the verdict ended a highly contested legal battle.

The court closed after eight days with verdicts in multiple cases. Susac Emerson was found guilty of second degree larceny for stealing cigars and tobacco from A. B. Hanscom, receiving 14 months at Stillwater. Jesse Hackerson, ill with a liver tumor, was fined 100 dollars and 30 days for illegal liquor sale. Dr J B Speed, unlicensed, was found guilty of illegal sale of liquor and sentenced to 950 dollars and 40 days with a stay. Several other cases were continued, dismissed, or postponed as court adjourned.
Hans Olson, convicted in January term for selling an intoxicant labeled Tanto, begins serving time after Supreme Court upheld the lower court. Sentence 0 days and $50 fine with 30 days extra if unpaid. B F Miller, convicted similarly for selling booze, jailed Monday night. Sentence 30 days and $100 fine with 30 days extra if unpaid.

Miss Ross Svobodny of Roseland visits sister Mrs John Hirman. James Torkeleon of Misoenpala visits relatives. St Marys Church ladies host a lawn social Thursday at Mary Haley’s Litchfield location. all invited.

News from Granite Falls reports the death of former Willmar resident Nels O. Norman, about sixty years old, from alcoholic poisoning. He lived in Willmar about ten years, worked as a blacksmith for A. J. Ekander, and later ran a blenksmith shop in Granite Falls. He leaves no known local relatives. Funeral was conducted by Rev. Lated. Administrative matters noted include Henry Kaslin named temporary administrator and the Willmar Commercial Club electing T. O. Gilbert as secretary. The piece also mentions a road fund proposal and De La Fountaine's Ghost show relocating to Morris.
