Big Day at Bethesda Homes in Willmar District

Last Sunday Bethesda Homes day drew a large crowd to the Homes at Eagle Lake in the Willmar District. Morning services featured Rev Nicolay Nilson of Willmar, noon served winehean free to visitors, Lake Lillian Band performed, and an afternoon program included singing, an auto by Mrs Jorstad, speeches by Rev J Mattson Rev E Aas Rev A M Arntzen and Rev E O Larson. A collection for old folk and orphanage totaled 256 47.

School district seeks bond issue to complete building

At a school meeting on Saturday evening July 19 the Board of Education will request a bond issue of 7000 dollars to finish the under construction building and equip it. Bonds run to Minnesota with four percent interest plus a state bonus. If the bond fails, taxation will fund the amount. About 22000 dollars funds contracts for new building parts and about 15000 for equipment. The money not due until next year. state funds may not be available until July 1 of next year.

Tragedy near coal chute shocks Willmar crowd

The body of Carl Hilder Anderson was found near the coal chute by the Great Northern grounds. Investigators noted two deep throat wounds and a broken razor nearby. Police considered the case murder but the coroner ruled suicide. $52 missing and facial fingerprints on cards raise questions. Anderson, born 1882 in Sweden, had a $1000 life policy for sister Olga. family details listed in Willmar records.

Nonpartisan League Picnics Planned This Week

Ernest Mertzen will address Nonpartisan League meetings at Raymond on July 10 and at Spicer on July 11. The Spicer picnic is by special invitation from its residents, following a recent New London meeting. The League’s county membership is expected to grow for this biennial period, signaling recovery from earlier faction pressures. Prof. and Mrs. Wallace H. Martin and three children plan a visit this week to J. H. Martin, coming from Rockwell Iowa after visiting Mrs. Martin's mother. Prof. Martin taught at State College this past year.

Instruct ors Surprise Men s Union Outing at Park

Last Sunday the Men s Union of the Lutheran Synod held its annual outing at Assembly Park with English services in the forenoon and a 2 20 o clock session. Professors Pederson and Harstad from the Seminary were honored with gold chains as the Willmar Band performed in the closing, and ladies and other members were thanked with memorabilia.

State Meeting of the Willmar Letter Carriers Convention

Wiltmar will host the State Letter Carriers Convention this week with about fifteen delegates. The headquarters are at Merchants Hotel and business sessions at the Masonic Temple, opening at 10:00 a.m. Mayor Wallin gives the welcome, followed by an omnibus tour and a civic party at the Masonic hall.
