Young People Society to Meet July 16 Evening

The Young People's Society of the Swedish Lutheran church will meet Wednesday evening July 16 at 8 o'clock. The program includes piano solo reading vocal solo by Emma Boyds Elsie Hoglund Blanche McNees attorney Chas Johnson Ferne Magnugan and Mrs Hanson. Piano duet by Edith Nelson and Myrtle Peterson. Refreshments will be served by August Johnson and Isaac Johnson. Everybody welcome.

Presbyterian Sabbath School Missionary’s Two Decades In Minnesota

Mr Thomas Scotton trained in Springfield Mass joined Minnesota Presbyterian work as Sabbath School Missionary. After Albert Lea visit, he led St Cloud Presbytery outreach spanning 14 counties 10 000 square miles and nearly 300 000 people. Twenty year summary shows 16 847 scholars, 151 813 miles traveled 2 590 76 in collections 75 000 value in churches built 4377 Bibles and 1429 catechisms distributed plus evangelistic meetings and departments like Cradle Rolls. Auto Accident Near City Leaves Four Unharmed

An auto accident on state road between the city and the State Farm last Thursday evening involved the Mitchell touring car of Downs and Sanderson skidding onto a bank and turning turtle. Four occupants were unharmed, though Edward Sanderson and Miss Daisy were briefly pinned under the front seat with minor injuries. The back-seat occupants, Miss Ida and another sister, escaped and helped summon aid. The windshield and top were damaged but the car remained drivable after being lifted and towed home. Edward returned to work in the livery barn, walking with a limp, and all remained confined to bed until Saturday due to nervous shock.

Cyclones Do Much Damage Across Colfax and Nearby Areas

A series of tornadoes struck Colfax and surrounding towns injuring barns and structures. Geo Johnson’s barn, Cartledge place buildings, and Erick Dahlberg property suffered major damage with losses from $1,500 to $3,000. Paynesville school roof and Willmar park facilities also damaged. storm brought heavy rain and road washouts. Reverend Charles M. Ruland of Crosby dies suddenly while serving as pastor in Minnesota after a career in Greenleaf and Spring Grove Meeker County.
