The Green Lake Chautauqua program lists President P. E. Mattson and the Arps Quartet of G. A. College plus Atty. Gen. E. T. Young Judge C. A. Pollock and other dignitaries from Morningside College University of Minnesota and Twin Cities groups. Miss Eleanor Miller Lieut Martin E Tew and Mrs T M Findley are among lecturers with several others to be secured.
Misa Josie A Rebn of Willmar and August Hedlund manager of Kerkhoven Mercantile were quietly married at 517 Mayson Street. Rev H C Buell officiated with only C H Anderson and his wife as witnesses. The couple left for a wedding trip on the Christian Endeavor special train to Seattle July 5 returning July 31 after six days in Yellowstone Park.
Mrs Mary Halldin visited New London last week for a brief visit with friends. Miss Aldina Edberg of Arctander visited old friends in Mamre. Carl Stangheller worked on a house telephone installation. Matt Abrahamson of Willmar met his parents Mr and Mrs N N Abrahamson. Miss Jennie Swenson of Pennock called on Ole Sorenson. Mr and Mrs Otis Sather of Minneapolis visited Emil E Ostrand. Mrs Albin Gustafson and children went to Minneapolis with sister Miss Willma Johnson. Mr and Mrs John Ostlund of Pennock spent Sunday with Peter Rodman. J O Stanghelle went to Minneapolis for Mrs Stanghelle health reasons. he returned Saturday and she will stay longer. Carl Norman recently returned from Buffalo Minn to visit his parents.
Last Monday at four o'clock Hilda J Erickson married Peter W Steen at the Eagle Lake residence of Mr and Mrs Peter Erickson. The ceremony was by Rev E E Gynild with relatives present. Guests, decorations of American Beauty roses, the wedding march, attendants, and a wedding dinner followed in a quiet family setting. The Steens, graduates of the local seminary, will reside in Hector where Steen works as a bookkeeper. The town explains the social circle and notes their friendly reception by Willmar friends before setting off for Hector.
Misarranged dates push back a Silver Monday lecture by P J Youngdahl who will appear once proper arrangements are made. Mrs Marcus Peterson of Willmar visits her kin near Spicer as Green Lake church plans its annual sale and service next Sunday. Reverend Carl Holter and Prof Carl Mellom to speak. A Spicer dredge boat completes work on the river outlet. A Swedish Lutheran church social adds 14 70 to the ladies treasury. Sunday services and Sunday school scheduled at Spicer church next Sunday.
After a trial lasting over six teen hours the jury found N Schagel guilty of selling intoxicating Swedish malt drinks over the past five years. A twenty day stay was granted before sentence to allow motions for a new trial. A special venu e of jurymen selected Jesse Larson Robert Thompson Carl Abrahamson Edw Rasmusson K T Rykk en N N Abrahamson Carl Olson Halvor Nelson O A Nelson Albert Erickson Ole Olstad M A Syverson served. County attorney assisted by Sam Porter defense attorney Chas Johnson. Chemist George B Frankforter testified on alcohol content. Defense witnesses said they drank the malt and found it non intoxicating.
Sam Roberg of the Bijou show company reported a pocketbook theft in Marshall last week, losing $25 in cash and papers. E A Linde also lost a suit case but recovered it later behind the section house after missing it on the railroad platform.
The Nordland Lutheran Free Church in Irving opened a new edifice after a dedication service attended by nine pastors and a large audience. Rev Midthun and Rev Gynild led the rites, with offerings for Bethesda Orphanage totaling fifty one dollars. The seven thousand dollar structure mirrors the Willmar church, features a new Easter Morning altar piece by August Klogstad, and is overseen by a building committee including Iver Lorentzon and P A Haganson.
New kilns at the Willmar brick yard near completion will undergo testing within days. A forty foot smoke stack is being built for two kilns, and once finished all brick and tiling will be burned in the new units, reducing labor and fuel waste from the old open kilns. A large quantity of drain tile has been laid in the past week and awaits the drying kiln completion.
John M Downs acquires section 31, township 13, range 4 in Saskatchewan through a deal with A.FP, while C J Andrews of Minneapolis takes section 20, township Willmar. Andrews plans to improve the property, and Downs, active in Canadian real estate, believes he can manage the land better as a trade.

Stone described his Pacific coast trip. Meeting total 10 dollars and 40 cents. Services will be held at East Norway Lake church week.
At St Cloud depot last Monday noon a man seized another man and demanded the return of clothes and jewelry he claimed the woman stole. The trio involved are two Minneapolis men, a 20-something summer girl, and the gardener fiancé. The jilted lover seeks $1,500 repayment for gifts, while the collector tries to arrest him for stealing.
