Fire destroys tailor shop and adjacent business
Last Thursday morning a gasoline stove exploded at the tailor shop of J. J. Ekander on Fourth Street, causing a major blaze that gutted the interior. Ekander suffered minor burns while attempting to remove the burning stove under six heavy irons. The cleaning department at the rear escaped damage. the Nelson shoe shop in the same building was also destroyed. Ekander has insurance on contents and plans to reopen after refitting. the cleaning department has moved to the Lewis building. Dr. Scott Searles joined Benson and Sandren in Willmar, bringing internal medicine and pediatrics expertise.

Eloped Couple Marry Then Arrested For Abduction
A man who used the name Em met Pawl took Kate Murphy of Danvers to Morris and wed her after securing a marriage license. The couple registered at the Exchange Hotel and were later arrested after the father learned of the elopement. Emery J. Seven hog cars were shipped Tuesday by Skong and Anderson, P. A. Johnson and Tobias Rasmus, the largest one day hog shipment ever from Willmar. Many small pigs were returned to farms with corn left on hand.

First govt aeroplane visits Willmar on ice
A government aircraft landed on Foot Lake near Willmar as Appleton aviators, B. W. McElligot and R. C. Halling, toured through Minnesota. The plane, part of the Appleton Aero club’s purchases, delayed by engine trouble, stayed overnight near Willmar Seminary before continuing to Appleton with another aircraft in tow.
Minnesota Anti Aircraft Battalion Mustered Out at Camp Dodge
Eighteen Kandiyohi County soldiers, part of the Fourth Anti Aircraft Machine Gun Battalion, were mustered out at Camp Dodge last Saturday afternoon and traveled by night train to the Twin Cities. The group, mostly Minnesota lads, wore insignia on their left arms and received a large reception upon release.
