A village fire at the P. H. Parsons place in First Ward consumed the barn and contents worth about one hundred dollars. A cow died, hay, garden tools, clothing stored in the barn, and several chickens were lost. The blaze spread quickly due to inflammable material and high winds. An incendiary origin was later suspected with a youth reportedly confessing. Stewart Parsons and others were away when the fire started. Mrs. Parsons was at the opera.
