Commissioners Proceedings January 6 1920 Minnesota Board Actions
The county board convened in regular session January 6 1920 with members Johnson Brad Jeinson Swenson and Boursia present. Samuel Swasen county attorney Charles Ju jgon attended as noted and N B Johnson was elected chairman with Wm O Johnson vice chairman. The board extended the Amer Man Drainage Company contract time to December 1 1920 and directed a second dredge be placed on the project when digging begins in spring. County road items No 1 and 14 were postponed to February 10 1920 and $500 moved from general revenue to the dental fund. Continued on page eight.

At the Commercial meeting on Tuesday evening January 13 the Home Garden Committee reported on the past season's garden contest. Eighty boys and girls enrolled. the County Agent and University members spoke to youths about garden work and the plots were monthly visited for scoring.

Obituary of Earl H Frye of Willmar Minnesota
Earl Hamilton Frye died Sunday January 18 1920 in a St Paul hospital after diphtheria and scarlet fever. He was 21, son of Hon P H Frye, born November 18 1898 on the Willmar area farm, served in world war and later worked as railway mail clerk. He leaves parents a brother and sister in law Howard Frye and two nephews Audrey and Howard Frye Jr. The body was brought to Willmar and the funeral will be held at Peterson undertaking rooms tomorrow afternoon at an undisclosed hour.

Bids accepted by Emil Nickelson secretary at 1312 Gorton Ave Willmar up to noon Friday January 30 1920. Bids cover building above basement with no furniture and removal required between March 15 and April 1 1920. The committee reserves the right to reject any bid.

Dowling for Governor Club Opens in Willmar

Young Gamblers Arrests Stir City Court Fines
Last Friday six young men were arrested for gambling in an Italian car on track No 17 by Sheriff Bonde and Deputy Olson. They pled guilty and were fined ten dollars plus costs. Additional arrests followed in local yards and city streets with fines ranging from twelve to eighteen dollars. The editorial urges community action and notes officials will continue raids to curb gambling among youth.

Willmar Cooperative Company completed an audit showing the 1919 business volume at 303610.20 and planned share dividends of 18729.81 plus patronage rebates. Since starting July 28 1911, sales have totaled 1682121.09 with 108696.83 in profits returned. Dividends will be distributed Monday January 26.

New City Paving Law Believed Unconstitutional
At the last city council meeting the paving plan for Litchfeld and Gorton Avenues was dropped since the new law under which the council acts is believed unconstitutional. A Farmington case recently ruled the law unconstitutional and awaits Supreme Court action. The town may next address paying some streets under the 10th law.

Swedish Evangelist Eric Anderson Opens Gospel Series
Sev Eric Anderson of Denver Colorado begins a two week Gospel meeting series at the Baptist church Sunday January 25.
