State Organizer Addresses Minnesota Farmers on Non Partisan League

The Non-Partisan League meeting drew farmers and city residents despite cold weather. N S Randall outlined the movement as a farm driven effort to wield political power, aimed at securing tax relief, rural credit, and reforms, while critiquing press bias and big business. He noted cross party unity and predicted major political developments ahead.

Marriage At Fergus Falls Unites William Moldenhauer and Lydia Redlin

William Moldenhauer of this city and Lydia Redlin of Fergus Falls wed last week in Fergus Falls, then traveled to the twin cities before returning. They will reside in the old Post Office building and be at home after February first, with congratulations from The Tribune. Nels Nelson, pioneer and longtime St Johns Lutheran leader, died January 9 after a yearlong illness. He was born 1843 in Denmark and immigrated to Minnesota, serving as teacher, treasurer, deacon, and community builder in Willmar and St Johns. Funeral services were held January 13 at St Johns Church. Oscar Thompson of Green Lake died January 11 at St. Raphael’s hospital, St. Cloud, after pneumonia. He lived in Green Lake Township, worked at well drilling, and served as post office clerk in Willmar. seven brothers and three sisters survive. Hens J. Henjum, longtime Arctander resident, died January 11. funeral was held January 16 at Hast Norway Lake church. A reception for new Presbyterian members is planned January 18 at church parlors, with a brief program and refreshments. Royal Neighbors dance on January 23 at Carlson hall. Supper 15 cents. Moore’s orchestra. St Agnes Guild to meet January 22 at Guild Hall. Jonas Johnson family enjoyed Christmas visit from William Johnson and family of Lan- (text cut).

Sixth Annual Kandiyohi Poultry Show Opens In Willmar

Secretary Severt Osmundson of the Kandiyohi County Poultry Association reports strong entry interest for the Sixth Annual Poultry Show in Willmar on January 31 to February 3. Admission is free at the door and organizers aim to educate the public on the poultry industry urging every county and city resident to attend on the listed dates.

North Dakota bankers meet in Willmar for mutual talks

North Dakota bankers led by D. N. Tallman visited Willmar for mutual discussions. A reception at the Tallman mansion opened the gathering with attendees including W. F. Hanks P. A. Princess of Poe to Be Presented by Local Talent Friday

Local amateurs stage The Princess of Poe a two act musical comedy by The International Producing Company of Minneapolis. The Cosmos Club presents the production with a large cast and elaborate scenery including choruses, floats, and electrical effects. Tickets available at La Fountain Inn with seats on lower floor at fifty and seventy five cents and box seats higher.

Relief drive continues all week in Willmar

The relief collection for war sufferers in France runs through the week with donations of shoes and clothing placed in barrels outside Dreamland and Majestic theaters. Mrs. Geo Thomas heads the Willmar Needlework Guild unit linked to the national organization, with cash sent to Mrs. Thomas or Mrs. Jessie Moora. Sperry Rasmussen and Miss Clara Rasmussen wed in a Presbyterian ceremony officiated by Rev. W B Jones, with a small dinner at the bride’s Third Street home. Willmar Co op Store tops two hundred thousand in 1916

The Willmar Cooperative Mercantile Company reports its 1916 inventory and audit show higher sales and net earnings than prior years with total sales for the year above $200,000. The firm employs twenty people and distributes dividends ranging from two cents to 122 dollars and 82 cents, plus a substantial surplus from earnings.
